This one is dedicated to Joe Meek and the Moontrekkers Robert George "Joe" Meek was a pioneering English record producer and songwriter. His best-remembered hit is the Tornados' "Telstar", which became the first record by a British group to reach No.1 in the US Hot 100. @ Rchecka - Your post inspired me. One of my close friends is a heavy punk head, and I asked him for some recommendations. Here is one of the videos that he sent me, I def liked them all. He is a bass player, so of course they are bass heavy. Here are some that I dug out of my storage shelves. this one has been sampled a few. ^^ @Jaybrown - That Inner City Beat Record looks dope. I might have to jump on that. Have you ever heard Lesiman? The comp lp is pricey. But his stuff is on itunes. Primo ^ @Rchecka - Awesome selection. I have to step my punk game up.by Kepler2323 - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^ @JayBrown - I fully agree with you. I think that radio's influence kind of blind sided the cultural norms. Before radio, the best way to listen favorite songs was to hear a live band play them. And that's what all bands did, play the popular songs of the time and mix them in with there own (Elvis, Ray Charles, Billy Holiday). Every trumpet player in the 20's was playing King Oby Kepler2323 - General Discussion
Has anyone seen this Documentary? It is really well made. I also think that it has a very important message. I have the Howlin' Wolf – The Real Folk Blues lp which has killing floor on it. I knew about dazed and confused but was surprised to see some of the other sources that zepplin ripped off. Here is another good one that is on netflix. I hit a few shops in Atlanta. Managed to find some nice ones. I went to Wuxtry, which has a nice soundtrack selection and Full Moon records. Full Moon is a small shop but it has a good selection and a cool vibe. If you are ever in the area, the Gato Bizco restaurant across the street from Full Moon Records is awesome. I am already thinking of doing another mix, and would like your guys opinions. First, would you rather see another surf mix, or somber moods mix, or something different? Second, do you think that 80 mins is a good length, or do you think that I should break them into two 40 min mixes. Thanks,by Kepler2323 - Member Submissions

Excellent find JayBrown. Some nice sample material in those links. Alan Parker was an awesome session guitarist who did a lot of work on library labels. And Alan Hawkshaw of the Mohawks... It came full circle for me yesterday. 4 or 5 years ago I was pretty much your average www.reddit.com/r/vinyl user. I inherited a bunch a vinyl from my mother and bought a new lp every now and again.by Kepler2323 - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
