Sorry I am just getting to answering this question now. The main causing of skips is improper setup. The best thing you can do is get a small digital scale to double check that you are setting your VTF correctly. See here: Re: Antiskate I recommend you search for Peter Lederman's videos (they are on Youtube) on the topic and set anti-skate that way. The Woodentops - Wooden Foot Cops on the Highway LP A recent cheap digging pick up. This group were a British indie rock band around during the 80s, signed to Rough Trade over there and Columbia here in the U.S. I love this band's first album and early singles but this sophmore album is a bit of a curveball. From what I've read the critics didn't like it too much either at tby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Scanner - Hypertrace LP Here's one I've been listening to a bit lately. The cover would have you think it's some kind of 80s heavy metal album and that's right, but it's not thrash like you'd expect. Instead it's more of a melodic speed metal style, perhaps reminiscent of Running Wild if they sang about space and aliens instead of pirate-related topics. Iby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Sorcier Des Glaces - Self-Titled [2018] Atmospheric black metal from Canada with a strong influence from the Scandinavian second wave. I've heard some earlier work by this project and liked it but this is the first time I've heard them doing anything this high level. The entire album is one long track, done in different sections (though not track indexed) but with a some commonby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Karl Sanders - Saurian Meditation Relapse Records, 2004 Sounds interesting. I never got into Nile really so I didn't know his solo stuff was anything like this. I'm going to have to bookmark this one too.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Shroud Eater - Strike The Sun STB Records, 2017 Not familiar with the band or label but I guess I should be paying more attention to both of them. Going to have to bookmark some stuff to check out.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Quoterchecka Portion Control – Simulate Sensual LP (In Phase Records) 1984 ^Last night I bumped this extremely interesting compilation that gathers some of this enigmatic band's best tracks. One could mix this with Einsturzende but it's not at all as harsh sounding. It's more electro and distorted synth sounding with sparse vocals. Quoterchecka RN... Sleep - The Sciences 2LP (Third Man Records) 2018 I thought this album was really well done. I'm probably in the minority but I still think Vol. 1 is their best album overall. Most fans lean towards Holy Mountain. I never got into Dopesmoker or whatever they renamed it - that always seemed like a gimmick album to me (one super long track) but maybe I should give itby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
John Coltrane - Kulu Se Mama LP My lone LP find from digging the other day at a very frustrating shop. Quite a few things I would've bought but everything was either overpriced or had condition issues. Not one of Coltrane's albums that gets a ton of praise in the mainstream press, but it's a great album. The whole first side is taken up by a free form spiritual jazz suiteby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Melt Banana - 13 Hedgehogs (MxBx Singles 1994-1999) A-Zap Records, 2005 Saw this band live many years ago and they were great. I don't think I've ever owned anything by them. What would you say are their best releases in your opinion?by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
You probably wouldn't know it from my recent posts, but I enjoy a bit of soul and funk. Not up on the contemporary scene, but I guess that's what mixes like this are for - to highlight artists doing good work. I've listened to this a couple times now and really enjoyed it. If you end up making some T-Shirts with that design I want one.by LionsMouth - Member Submissions
Quoterchecka There is a semi local place here that has great reviews and is a bit more than discmakers but only about 30 dollars more. I don't have the mixtape copyrighted and have no intention of doing so. This is an unofficial mixtape, my funk mix, and I think official mixtapes are rare and always way too expensive to license and sell. Last official mixtape I bought was years agoby LionsMouth - Turntable Help and Technical Questions
Quoterchecka This weekend I enjoyed... Mundell Lowe - Guitar Moods LP (Riverside Records) 1960 Another one to add to the wishlist. Surprised Analog Productions never reissued that one. Not gonna happen now with the new leadership @ Concord Music Group which owns the rights to all the Riverside stuff. CDBaby and Discmakers are owned by the same company. They are one of the largest operations in the U.S. A lot of independent labels that do very small runs will use them. I've heard good and bad things about them. Anything 500 or more these days is going to Europe or even Asian plants to be pressed if we're talking about actual glass-mastered CDs and not CD-Rs. Extinction of Mankind - Storm of Resentment CD First full length in over a decade from this long-running UK crust punk band. In terms of post-Amebix heavy crust, these guys have always been one of the best IMHO along with Misery (RIP). Compared to their older work, this album seems to be faster in the tempo department but the band is as heavy as ever. My copy is the CD released by MCR in Jby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Easterhouse - Contenders LP One of those albums I've had in my collection for a few years that never quite gelled with me until recently. Not sure if it's changes I've made to my system or what, but I really enjoyed this when I last put it on. Anyway, this band were an 80s outfit from Scotland playing post-punk flavored guitar pop with a strong communist political leaning inby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Richard Williams - New Horn in Town LP An overlooked gem from the golden era of sixties hard bop. Williams played with a number of big names but this was his only bandleader album. His trumpet is mixed front and center and almost overpowers the other players at times but it works fairly well. The tunes are a mix of standards you've heard before along with a few originals. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa The Proletariat - Soma Holiday LP I have to pick this up. Sounds like a solid album. The only thing I have from them are the few songs on the This Is Boston Not L.A. comp from back in the day. Yeah, that's where I first heard them, more specifically a dubbed tape of that comp that someone gave me years ago. I would say this LP is better than those tracks. The Proletariat - Soma Holiday LP Now here is a band I've tried to get into multiple times over the years and they're only clicking just now. The Proletariat were closely tied to the early 80s Boston Hardcore scene but their sound was more like hardcore kids playing angular UK-inspired post-punk, heavily influenced by early Wire and Gang of Four. Lyrics are heavily left wing poliby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Phish - A Picture Of Nectar originally released by Elektra, 1992 - this pressing by Jemp Records, 2015 You know, whenever I check out tracks by this band, I'm surprised at how jazzy they are. I'm gonna have to break down and buy some of their stuff next month probably.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Berlin - Pleasure Victim Geffen Records / Enigma Records / M.A.O. Records, 1982 I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with this band's work outside of their big hit on the Top Gun soundtrack. This sounds much different and way more interesting. I'm definitely picking up some Kraftwerk and Moroder vibes there.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Willie Bobo - Spanish Grease Verve Records, 1965 That sounds really good. I don't have any of his solo albums, just a couple albums he plays on. I'll keep an eye out for that one.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Ray Manzarek - The Golden Scarab Mercury Records, 1974 Never heard this before and listening to those two tracks, odd is a good description. I'm not too keen on Ray's vocals but the music seems interesting - definitely some big players involved there.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

Sleep - The Sciences 2xLP So by now everyone must know that Sleep has a new album out. Although it won't dethrone Vol. One as my personal favorite, it is damn good and Third Man did a nice job pressing this at their new plant. If you like the band, just buy this. Armageddon - Self Titled LP 70s heavy hard rock with some prog touches featuring Keith Relf on vocals. I'm a big fan of Keith's vocals in the Yardbirds and this was one of the last things he recorded before tragically dying of electrocution. If you like 70s hard rock, this album is well worth seeking out and does a good job of balancing the hard and heavy stuff with the progressiby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

Tomb Mold - Manor of Infinite Forms LP Very hard to keep up with all the metal being released this year but this album has grabbed my attention. As everyone knows, I'm very picky about death metal but this album does most things right and very little wrong.
