I bought the cd when it came out. Didn't think they were gonna drop it on vinyl. It is well worth the money. A couple of real gems among the unreleased ones. Don't think I'll be paying $40.00 on the vinyl though.by GMM - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
That's quite the ritual R! I know my wife would never allow for such a scheduled life although I'd probably like it a lot. I guees my rituals are somewhat a result of my living conditions, no man cave, just the living room.by GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

I'm just guessing but since there are more than a few music nerds in here, I bet some of you have som sort of ritual you might have evertime you bring home a new record or revisit some favorites. It is now time to share your behaviour and reveal you listening rituals, no matter how strange, funny or boring they might be! I'll go first... Cool stuff R! Punk records can have som really cool covers, a couple of really nice ones in there. I don't mind punk but I rarely feel the need to listen to it, hence only a handfull och records, well cd's actually, in my collection. Those regional comps reminded me I once came across this dude who colelcted punk recordings from as many countries as possible but only from the late 70by GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^^I get tired just hearing the word "workout" so I ain't cklicking on no free download... Lately picked up a couple of good ones: The J.B.'s - These are the J.B.'s A shelved album from 1971 with the lineup that included Bootsy finally gets an official release. ^^After hearing some of Nehru's orther work I was disappointed with that album. It isn't bad but it isn't memorable imo. I recently copped this Biggie comp which is quite intersting: It has everything from "cunt renaissance", a demo soudning version of "who shot ya" (both under different names), "stop the breaks" which features KRS, O.C. andby GMM - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
^^Great bunch of records R! Really digging that Mister T joint. And that He 6 joint you posted kepler is fire! After some quick searching I can only hope they press this up again, it's a bit out of my budget. I finally picked up this one: Been waiting like a child at christmas for them to finally release something and it's all I hoped for. Heavy as hell and with a more gby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
R.I.P. To me hank's delivery on Rapper's delight always overshadowed the whole Caz issue. It was always my favorite verse.by GMM - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Quotejaybrown I'm still working on this . But it's slow going . I have 8 albums right now that I know have a place in my top 20 ... @ GMM , I was really surprised at your #1 pick . I'll be honest and say that although I love reggae music , my knowledge of it is still very minimal . I didn't know anything by Ini Kamoze aside from tha album with Hot Stepper , and never really gby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Quotejaybrown There are a some albums on your list that I haven't heard at all , so I may have just found some new stuff that needs to make their way into my collection . That's my biggest hope in seing other lists. Really looking forward to yours, I have a feeling it's gonna be good.by GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Alright, we're down to the top 3! # 3 Public Enemy - It takes a nation of millions to hold us back (1988) I don't need to tell anyone on here why this is agreat album, but the reason it's on my list is that it's basically the album that has been with me the longest. It was one of the first rap records I ever bought and I can honestly say I've been listening to iby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
# 7 James Brown - Sex machine (1970) I am a bit of a James Brown fanatic and this is, in my opinion, his greatest album. You get both some very funky studio recordings including one of his absolute most important and best song in "Give it up or turn it a loose" alongside a superb live recording. The best of both worlds, or should I say three, 'cuase it also has some great soby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Quotejaybrown ^^ agreed .. GMM this must've been on your mind for a minute . Very interesting selections . I didn't expect to see the Kult joint . I also didn't expect to see Pun either , but can fully understand why it's there . When I met my wife , I remember her having a Pun cd in her car and me being like you and just dismissing him at first I wondered why she would keepby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
#14 Big Punisher - Capital Punishment (1998) I first heard Big Pun on "Not a player". I thought he was nice but nothing more so I never checked the album at the time. Some time later I heard a local mc claiming Pun was the best ever and I didn't understand why someone would claim that but I decided to check out the album. I don't agree with the statment that he was theby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
# 17 KRS One - Return of the boom bap (1993) This album was very hard to get a hold of where I live back when I was absessed with anything KRS put his name on. To this day the moment when I finally found it, is probably my most vivid memory of recorddigging. Not only is it a fantastic album that has really stood the test of time but it brings back memories of teenage rap obsession and earlby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^^Glad to see some enthusiasm. It is tough, very tough but it's doable. I'll start off with my countdown... #20 Mustafa Ă–zkent ve Orkestrasi - Genclik Ile Elele (1973) I owe this very site the discovery of this fantastic album. It's been roughly a year since I heard it for the first time but the effect it has on me whenever I play it, makes it an essential part of my musicaby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
When you're a kid, picking your favorite song or album isn't hard but as you get older and your collection grows and grows it gets harder and harder to decide what you like best. About a month back I decided to challenge myself and list my personal favorite 20 records of all time and in order. When I started I had no idea which album would end up at no 1. I had a couple of guesses aby GMM - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
I got an agreement with my wife, every month I put away a fixed budget to spend on nothing but records. How much depends on what we make that month but there's always enough to pick up a couple of records. Once that's done, I add some extra money to that budget without her knowing haha!by GMM - General Discussion
^^I checked out those Karl Hector & The Malcouns records. Definately quality stuff. Some of it is too jazzy for my taste but I'm gonna keep an eye out for those. As for Skinny Puppy, always liekd them but rarely in the mood to listen to them, which is why I limited my sight to the album "Bites", which I like the best. Still haven't picked it up though... ^^I was just listening to the new Roots album online today. I like the fact that they are evolving musically and bring a different musical concept to the album but after all is said and done, it's aiight but not quite my cup of tea. However I've been having the new Mobb Deep album on repeat all week, both discs. Once you skip 2-3 tracks in the middle it turns into a cohesive and enjoby GMM - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
@Kepler ^^ That Four Thoughts 45 is great. Thanx for the heads up on this. @ Rchecka, That Congos album is fantastic I can't believe I still haven't picked it up. I've seen some sort of deluxe reissue around, might get that one. I recently realized I like listening to music in languages I don't understand. Check this out if you haven't seen it. 85 mc's/group's vocabulary compared to Shakespeare and eachother. Quite an interesting read. Eminem just slightly ahead of P Diddy & Biz Markie, several bigger artists at the bottom and Wu-tang dominate. Check it out here.by GMM - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
^^LMFAO what you smokin R? Since this thread got silly I have a perfect excuse to share some fantastic 80's sexually confused pop artists which my wife recently forced me to listen to over and over. However I'm not sorry (well yes but noy entirely), the first video is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It starts of bad and gets worse with every minute. ^^I always dug that Smokin raps comp. Definately the best one out of the Smokin series. Also checked out that DJ Riz joint, some real nice mixing. And I could name way more sampling artists that original ones...
