Been listening to new Skyzoo, some Soul Khan, a couple GLC tracks, a little Blu (unreleased Johnson&Jonson track), Sean P. etc. on the iPod recently. Got a 12" of The Roots "Stay Cool" (an obvious favorite) recently and that's been getting burn on the table. Also, new (old) K-Def beat records ("From the 90's Vol. 1 & 2" I believe) and some new (new) Kby vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

Went to Big City Records for their last day, so much love and community there. Had a great time and came home with some treats: I haven't taken pics of the hip-hop yet...some killer albums there; a couple I really been wanting for a while (that Donald Byrd has been wanted for a long time).by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
I'm always happy with new Skyzoo material...he dropped a mixtape today and his next album is coming up soon I believe.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

Quoterchecka She'll never read this, so I'm not trying to butter her up. But I think she does an amazing job, personally I would go crazy in about 5 minutes after trying to do the things she does. You gotta have a special kind of patience that most people don't have to be in childcare. Come to think of it, she's gotta have a special kind of patience to be married to me as wby vamosarapiar - General Discussion
I got his Fela Soul instrumental on wax, dope project. Not too enthused by the idea of this project but good to see he's still working.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
I must admit, that Gotye stuff often makes me wanna scratch my ear drums out when I walk into a store/coffeeshop/etc...whatever keeps your head noddin' tho.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGMM Been bumpin The Roots - Undun. Probably my favorite Roots album by now... Wow, while I'm not hating on Undun that hurts my soul a little! Favorite Roots album?by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Thought I posted this up earlier but guess not....gotta check out that latest Shaz shit, thanks for the reminder. I was listening to instrumentals earlier today:by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Damn good reminder to cop that Oddisee shit, I'm streaming right now and it seems entirely worth the purchase. Don't like buying online as much as at a local shop but I can't count on this being available at my local spots for sure, bout to order that splattered + 7". Thanks.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
A solid compilation here, first side is particularly nice:by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Quoterchecka My new favorite app, that is very useful for remote controlling my media PC... (Android Only, sorry Iphone users, although I bet there is an equivalent Apple app) It's awesome, now I can play any mp3 on my PC, hit record when I'm mixing records, do anything on my PC, without even touching the keyboard or mouse. It uses your home's WI-FI or Blue Tooth to connecby vamosarapiar - General Discussion

Heavy-weight Tjader here, the best/favorite of my collection of his stuff. Was the hardest to find too: Cal Tjader - Tjader An absolute favorite (this as well as the HRD studio album): Eddie Palmieri/Harlem River Drive - Live At Sing Singby vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
GMM's post reminded me to break the seal on this one this afternoon: rchecka: doesn't sound like my kind of thing but interested to hear it. Will have to do a little youtube research.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Price was fair, I paid a bit extra for a more recent model and to make sure shit was right (great seller ratings, good condition etc.). If/when I get another it needn't be so pristine. Anyways, this'll keep me set for some time. I'm also using this new (to me) phono pre-amp, works great and is a slick little box: Re: the Format album: easily one of if not the hip-hop album oby vamosarapiar - General Discussion
This landed yesterday, enjoying myself quite a bit!by vamosarapiar - General Discussion
Appreciate it, definitely watching the prices and will take my time with it. I'm only buying one for now and if/when I get another it will certainly be another of the same.by vamosarapiar - General Discussion
So I'm getting ready to start bidding on a Technic 12 on Ebay. Went around Philly recently and checked out some spots that had them but I think I can do better on pricing (and maybe even condition) on the 'bay. Obviously I'll be looking for sellers with high ratings etc. but wondering if ya'll got any general reccs. in this area. Thanks in advance.by vamosarapiar - General Discussion
Quoterchecka ^I'll embed the youtube, that is VERY cool!! Link us to your reviews, man that's cool, I'd read that for sure! I might have to bite on that for sure, good rec! FWIW, I've had nothing but good experience with Secret Stash, I've got a few of their records and while I don't think I'll try and fill out their whole cat. I still gotta track down a fby vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^^^ Nice! I actually recently started writing music reviews about African and African diasporic music for a magazine...FWIW, on the Nigerian music tip, I would recommend this on the upcoming limited release tip:by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Big beer-head here. Philly is such a great place for craft-brews...some local, plenty "imported." "Philly Beer Week" is/was huge, such a great time with awesome events all around (met one of the head guys from Firestone Walker...David Walker IIRC)...will have to post some pics when I get the chance. This past winter I got the chance to try Pliny The Younger (!!!)...only a veryby vamosarapiar - General Discussion
"Girls" was really good IMO as well. Lena Dunham can do no wrong IMO. "The Wire"....best show ever, not an opinion (fourth season though for sure, 2nd season is good but nothing like the fourth or the first I think).by vamosarapiar - General Discussion
Absolutely loved Arrested Development; really, really great writing. As a hip-hop fan you gotta appreciate some of the great word-play...."Lucile and loose seal"...by vamosarapiar - General Discussion
Thanks again, that Coryell record is so nice! Have already played it twice +....by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Bump...that's one of my favorites on the album as well (though can't top the original). My favorite has to be "He Said I Can" though, copped the 45 for that one as well. I gotta catch up on some of her catalogue, I've heard most of it but wish I had more on vinyl.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Thanks, really nice haul for sure...really working on the jazz/funk/soul tip lately...I'd been looking for that Da King & I single for awhile so I was happy, really nice copy as well.by vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Posted this on DWG but this deserves to be here as well I think: Hit a shop I don't go to often and it was great...coffeeshop with good food and coffee upstairs and a great vinyl selection downstairs. Everything was extremely well cataloged and recieved some great reccs. and bargains as well (though the dealer knew what he was talking about so heavy pieces don't slip by w/o appropriaby vamosarapiar - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
