I totally agree with @jaybrown...this is one of those things where it can be completely subjective..and usually I tend to follow my "gut"...there have been instances where I hear a record and know somehow that "this" is what is going set this artist apart for me in my mind...as far as what everyone else considers a classic..well sometimes I agree and sometimes I do not...by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Well I posted in the the PE Hall Of Fame thread about my bf and his love of "Welcome To The Terrordome" (Fear Of A Black Planet ?)so I pulled out It takes a Nation Of 'Millions...etc" Soooo refreshing...by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
@jaybrown you are abso-smurfly right about watching so much TV. I have cut down a lot since I want to finish the "project" I keep mentioning and share it with the world. It is a great show..it's hilarious mand One of my fav people Judd Apatow is a producer...I just have a low tolerance for BSby hiphopchiq1 - General Discussion

WIKI says: Girls is an American television series that began airing on HBO on April 15, 2012. Created by and starring Lena Dunham, Girls is a comedy-drama that follows a close group of twenty-somethings as they chart their lives in New York City. The show's premise and major aspects of the main character were inspired by some of 26-year-old Dunham's real-life experiences. Her rby hiphopchiq1 - General Discussion

ugggh...A new season of "Girls" starring Lena Dunham and her odd pointy shaped boobs...I guess she answers the "race question" with the addition of Donald Glover to the cast, and oh get this he's supposedly a Republican, get it? A black republican...uh I would've respected her hustle if she just told the critics to suck it....and kept her racially homogenous cast.instby hiphopchiq1 - General Discussion
Soooo happy for them....my BF and I were just talking in depth about "Welcome To the Terrordome" and how much that joint meant to him and wonders of the almighty Bomb Squad...defintely a shining moment for Hip-Hop...cannot wait for the show if it's televised..by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

Things are heating up for these two cats and not in a good way. Records have been made.. I only listened to one...and it has now reached the point where someone could end up missing and it may not be Meek. We are now in a state of hypermasculinity where one man's comment ,diss record or whatever could get you beat up or even worse, killed. ^^^Em is never an elephant in any room I'm in. But seriously guys,i've been away and I come back in this thread and I have to say I'm not wowed by anyones selections..but like I said upthread these lists are completely subjective and decisions basically rely on one's personal tastes in the long run.by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
^^I agree @jaybrown. I'm working on a project involving hip-hop and it does not leave me enough time to discover new artists. I am always reaching back into the past but I feel like I have alienated myself from a whole new world of dope material.I promise I will not repeat that for the new year (crossing fingers that project gets finished). What is the criterion for these types of lists? Like I stated up thread, I'm always conflicted. I think of the records that changed perceptions, that gave you something different stylistically or sonically...Beatmaster called them "game changers". Some records didn't necessarily change the game but they were done so well within the confines of whatever particular "hip hby hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
My favorite is "The Mack" I have an anniversary edition that includes a documentary about the making of the movie and the two brothers about whom the movie was based.by hiphopchiq1 - General Discussion
I guess...This sort of thing is almost always subjective. One man's "Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos" is another's "Starships" ...I'll admit that was a bit drastic but it depends on one's personal perspective...I can never make up mind about my top ten or top five....by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
I'm just glad these artists are able to make paper...bills have to be paid and good music must live on.by hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Ok...so are Beef and battling synonymous? Or is battling under the general umbrella of Beef? Semantics aside, where would hip-hop be if Krs-One never made "The Bridge Is Over"? Or if Kool Moe Dee decided not to go against Busy Bee? Just trying to put things into a bigger perspective....hmmmby hiphopchiq1 - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

I always loved Lauryn...respected her as a lyricist,a singer, and as a beautiful dark skinned sister who did not in any shape or form conform to standards of beauty set by the industry...or by the (headwrap wearin' Black women either) she always did her... As far as women are concerned ,I'm almost positive there would have never been a positive response to a song crafted around a woman's menses,no matter how funny.
