Adidas has responded to the backlash caused by their Jeremy Scott designed "Shackle Shoes," which are officially called the JS Roundhouse Mid.

The footwear company has decided to pull the sneaker all together and issued an apology in the form of a prepared statement.

“The design of the JS Roundhouse Mid is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott’s outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery,” read the statement.

Scott has come forward and acknowledged that his shoe was meant to be fun, extravagant, and over the top. He had absolutely no intentions of the sneaker to have racial connotations. However, Black leaders such as Rev. Jesse Jackson remain appalled.

The attempt to commercialize and make popular more than 200 years of human degradation, where blacks were considered three-fifths human by our Constitution is offensive, appalling and insensitive. Removing the chains from our ankles and placing them on our shoes is no progress," Jackson wrote on the Huffington Post.

Yo Eye....***laughin'. ***

...I've been reading about this in the news over the past couple days, and it's crazy how those complaints (ultimately) caused Adidas to cancel the sneakers (because all the controversy). Personally, it reminds me of some 'ole slave sh*t....but, hey....

...it's interesting to see this story unfold...and the question of, "perception"....

I like P saw this in a news article. they were saying that they were called the slave or something like that. I was insulted but at the same time I said there would be many who would purchase these. I'm not sad they cancelled. If they werent making a reference to that fucked up period in history they damn sure looked to much like they were for them to make it to the shelves.
