^That's entertaining and everything, not bad (for Spin magazine) but not really what I had in mind. Something a lil more concrete and linear dealing with events and eras. Hoping some of you guys will jump on board because this kind of thing is scarce online and I'd like to see it become a real resource for young ponks that think Hip Hop started with Tribe.

Maybe not what you were looking for , but here is a timeline that includes many of the elements of hip hop let me know what you think. Keep in mind that this was written by a b-boy/graff writer.

Thanks for posting that. Honesty, the writer put a lot of work into that and props for it being so thorough. A lot of information is relevant, but I'd say its too much information, it's hard to read and very web 1.0. Plus it's not visual at all. Ask anyone who knows me I like charts, graphs, doodles, visual type sheet. nerd

Specifically it should start at 1986, since the Old School Era is already done, and it should in the present. We can break it up into eras or chunk all the eras in one timeline. So it isn't huge I think it should have only pertinent milestones that mark the beginning or end of an era.

Thanks for dropping your input everyone. This could really be a great resource if we do quality control on all input and don't be afraid to challenge what's been presented. The more collaboration and debate, the more relevant this will be.
I'll try to whip up an archaic rough draft image this week.
