The Miseducation Of LH ia a classic record.Sonically it was solid,the theme-unrequited love,heatbreak...it spoke to women everywhere, well crafted rhymes delivered with just enough bravado that didn't diminish her feminity coupled with her beauty attracted the fellas...Oprah had just offed her a part in a movie "Beloved" with Danny Glover and other great actors..it seemed like she couldn't lose..
I started to notice that around award season ..she began making these sanctimous remarks "Rappers shouldn't be coming up on stages Thanking God when they are disrespecting women.." yadda yadda yadda
Her album title would ring true in more ways than one.Literally, The miseducation of Lauren Hill was her undoing...She wrote a few checks that unfortunately her vagina had to cash....I knew it the ball had burst when she released that UNplugged album. The tracks seemed disjointed and just depressing...clearly she thought so too because when they taped the segment for MTV she cried through the entire performance..
I have not heard her sing live recently but folks say she has definitely lost her magic...I personally don't think she will ever make another album Like MOLH ...especially since the producers and writers who helped create that had to sue for monies owed for work done...A tragedy indeed...
