Wow has it really been 40 years. it's hard to be it's been that long. And you know what fellas I rocked the shoe laces also. and yes that box style took forever to get done. and the Puma Clyde was my favorite shoe. i had the Blue Black and grey and a brown and beige. I miss the break beats. I mean although they were all using the same breaks each DJ cut the song a little different and made it seem like it was a different song sometime. That's missing today. I also miss the Mc's of past. each was unique and different in their own

If they did it like they used to,
I'd still prefer the Old School.

Yes 40 years L.E.S., remember the grown folks tellin' us back then that it was just a fad?
Yes people don't realize how comfortable the PUMA actually was.Unlike Chucks or Adidas.
Good point on the DJ's L.E.S., they all used the same 100 breaks...but cut them differently.
Loved when Bam would run Indiscreet into Pipeline and finish with Face of Love into Discomania.!

Yes me too on the emcees, especially the routines.

Peace to you.

thumbs up - With RChecka on this one, the beats......that's what got me hooked.

thumbs up - Boomin' Systems. They might still be around, but not like they used to be.

Yes,indeed but ain't it funny in how that was common knowledge as a sin for emcees back then and then the first recognized rap record of all time includes a cat who bit.

1.The Park Era thumbs up - Would have loved to put this era in a bottle and ship it to every Hip Hop follower for the whole 40.
Before the money, before the fame, before it even became a culture.Just two turntables a microphone, some Bambaataa breakbeats and some scuffed up knees.

Good thread. As for park jams, I'm planning my next documentray, HIPHOP ON WAX, about the making of the first ever rap records and Hiphops evolution from the park to the studio. Pretty excited to interview some old school legends and lesser known studio players and producers and find out more myself.
AND YOU DON'T STOP!
