But I reckon youre probably right. Why would the vinyl have a better quality than the CD ( [www.discogs.com] ) Unless they bootlegged the album for the CD, but they wouldn't would they?

I think you were right off the bat when you said it sounded like it came from a tape. The original source might have been that crappy sounding old tape and Tuff City said, "Fuck it. We'll press it anyways." I hope for your sake I'm wrong and there's better audio out there.

It sucks when great music wasn't given the effort or respect to be given a proper recording. When you are trying to make a mix (if you're a Dj etc) and NEED quality to fit with the rest of you're trying to do it sucks. BUT, at least it's recorded and you can dig it.

So my copy finally came, and while its not the crystal clear quality I was looking for, I did discover something new.
This LP is the first time it was officially released, and has a little tell tale sign in the runout grooves.
I always thought the track ended a little short, but on here there are a few extra seconds. In which, is a radio snip "A Capital Rap show Exclusive" followed by a few beats of the next segued track.
So its a radio rip!!! Hence the quality.

I'm adding this update, incase theres anyone like me hellbent on getting to the bottom of the quality issue.
After numerous emails to Tuff City, I know they dont have a better quality copy. I suppose it is 22 yrs old.
I have mailed the man himself for the 2nd time, politely asking for background. Maybe he'll reply this time?
