^I know, BM, you're right about her being happy regardless.

I think this particular vent of the day stems from the diamond jewelry TV advertisements, the cheesy fake couple, the man get's down on one knee, busts out a non-engagement ring giant diamond rock that no man could afford unless he was a CEO, and asks the much surprised fake wife if she'll marry him all over again. The corny unrealisticness of that situation seriously makes me wanna puke. Not that my wife doesn't deserve a giant rock for putting up with my ass, she does, but she'll never get it on Valentines or any other day that society says is the day I should do it. She'd rather have a timely mortgage payment made anyway.

Truly if I was smart about it, I woulda gotten flowers way sooner but Mr. procrastinator is in full effeck when I feel forced by the expectations of society.

Damn society.


BTW: If there are women reading this, don't be surprised if your man feels the same way about Valentines Day being a curse but just doesn't say it to you. Absolutely, If my wife read this I'd be toast, but she never comes in here so I'm in the clear. I'm speaking for the rest of the disenfranchised men wholeheartedly comfortable in their relationships yet forced to wait in line with cash in hand for a commercialized, convoluted holiday. And yet if I don't conform, If I don't do it, I'm an asshole husband. Not cool!
