Literally electrocuted. I was putting up some foam-board insulation in our basement in between the floor joists. I pulled out some old nasty rotted insulation and as I did so I touched some old ass wiring. I was touching copper pipe with the other hand. So I got this horrible shock where I couldn't move and everything went blank in my mind. I was shaking and it felt like hell, sheer adrenaline got to my left leg and told it to push me away from the pipe. As I let go I flew backwards into a crate of old equipment. I got burn marks on my wrist right now, I'm seriously shaken up. It was intense to say the least, my whole body, especially my right calf, is sore like I just ran a marathon on 20 seconds. I think it was 20 seconds of being shocked, I can't really remember exactly but it felt like forever. This reminds me, I really should get life insurance.

Obviously I got on the phone and now I gotta get an electrician in here to check this wiring, it could have killed me or anyone in my family. Scary stuff, I wonder how many brain cells I just killed. Luckily I got a cure for that. (cracking a Sammy Adams)

Whoa, glad you're alright. Scary stuff. It could have started a fire also. I have never been electrocuted, but in my early 20's me and my cousin would shock ourselves with his stun gun, super wasted of course.

Yeah, I can't stop thinking about how it coulda started a fire either. My whole body is sore today, I feel like I ran a marathon yesterday. I definitely would not wanna get stunned, but I have a feeling electrocution by faulty wiring hurts more lol.

I got an electrician coming in today on a sunday, I don't even care how much this is gonna cost, I just want it fixed.

damn..that's pretty crazy, R....glad you're alright. My man, be careful doing work (on the house) around insulation - like you just experienced, you're liable to find all kind of stuff buried underneath it (i.e., old-ass wiring, mice, old skin/porn mags, etc.).

^Yeah, you aint kidding LOL. I found an old porn tape, some super old half eaten by mice playboys, a half drank bottle of Phillips Vodka, and a scary audio cassette of a candid recording of the couple who lived here years ago in a verbal fight. I think the wife hid a tape recorder to hear this drunkards rant on tape, they must have been going thru a divorce or something because it's just stupid and petty. And now I found bad ungrounded wiring in the floor joists! At least it was me that found it and not my wife or kids. I'm done for the Fall working on the basement till that whole house gets rewired.

All this kind of hidden beneath the surface sheet makes me almost go back to renting an apartment. Well almost.
