Hi everyone. Rchecka invited me over from Instagram. I've read through a bunch of the threads and hope I can contribute something worthwhile here.

I started collecting records in 1978. In 1990 I was a poor student in grad school, and I sold my stereo to pay for some expenses. I didn't sell any records, though, because by that point in time I thought they were all but worthless in terms of monetary value. All through the 90s I just kept telling myself that I could make due with my cheap CD boombox until I finished school and could afford another real system, but then I got married, bought a house and ended up putting off the purchase over and over again. But I kept right on buying records, just assuming that one day I would have another turntable to play them on. To make a long story short, I finally got around to buying a new setup last year, and can finally play my records again. My collection is currently around 15,000 LPs, 8,000 or so 45s, and more CDs than I care to count. There are also some cassettes and 8-Tracks laying around, too. I won't even get started about the 30 TB of digital files I have on my media servers. It's safe to say that music rules my life.

I don't have a great degree of knowledge about Hip Hop, so I hope to pick up some good advice about that genre here. I'm mostly into metal, jazz, noise, space rock, classical, new age, and psychedelia. In general, I look for anything that I've never heard before.

I hope I haven't gone on too long here. I'm glad to be here, and look forward to participating in some great conversations about music.Rock On

Gordon, that sounds like an insane collection! I can only imagine what kind of stuff you have in there. Feel free to share some highlights from your collection or whatever you happen to be listening to at the moment. I know some people here on this site would love to see some of your records.

well well well, back on a rap focused forum. Its been... quite some time.
So, I'm Isaac. I'm 39. I'd go into who i am but you can check out my facebook or whatever for who i am.

I will say this, I do listen to newer music, but usually not rap. I did geek out HARD on DELTRON EVENT II.
And i grab something from here and there, but these days I'm pretty fucking electic on what i listen to.

As long as it is not country though....
