Yes, R.I.P. to Mr. Brubeck..a person can spend a few days talking about the father of progressive jazz.His innovations led to vast changes in the dramatic stylings of almost every current and recent past smooth jazz operators.But for me, out of all the amazing things that he had done in his life and music;was that during his stint in Patton's Army, he was requested to start a band and tour with the USO and Red Cross.He requested that he select the best players available,and chose a few African-American band mates to tour with him.

This was unheard of due to most branches of the U.S. armed forces was segregated until 1948.
So my props to him in passing is more on the human side of pioneering causes rather than anything
musically.
