So my buddy Wade (owner of Metrowax) just purchased a 25,000 piece record collection from a retired NYC DJ (who asked to remain anonymous ((Spy))) consisting of mostly rap records.

Incidentally, that's a lot of records to move so he asked me to help him with the usual stipulation that I get first (ok, second) dibs on the good stuff, a rotating borrow pile to take home and check out before buying anything and store credit. Clearly I jumped at the chance. And what we found is some seriously jaw dropping records.

I've been so busy digging and borrowing and basically being in vinyl heaven that I haven't had time to share with you guys the goods. Until today, TGIF!

The 25,000 records came professionally boxed and palliated and a semi drove it from Brooklyn to good old EC WI.

Owner, Wade, standing proudly next to his first palate pre-unwrapping.

^He's more proud of his "awesome forklift skills" that got his collection off the truck but at this point the hard work has yet to begin...

...and after he put me and my huge pipes eye rolling smiley to work helping him move all the boxes into his warehouse this was what the collection it looked like.

Most of the records...

...

The other half on shelves...

Soon it became clear how dope this collection was because after unboxing just a few Uhaul boxes, we had already amassed a huge pile of classic ORIGINAL pressings much of which was STILL SEALED!

I'm not going to bore you guys with descriptions of records you probably know well, so I'll just let the records do most of the talking...

Unboxing pics EVERYTHING IS OG Pressing!

HTF Bloods & Crypts LP!

Found a box with just Mo Wax 12"s!

Borrow pile!

...

Nice, Jazzmatazz 2 and 3!

Original Diamond and the Psychotic Neurotics, talk about HTF!

The real sticker!

Seemingly impossible to find in the states Sade album...

For my HH comps collection...

Other good borrows and soon to be buys...

I finally got a OG copy SEALED of Enter the Wu-Tang!

Tons of great jazz and soul wax too...

Not pictured is a whole heap of amazing promos, test pressings, a few acetates and so on... We even found doubles of the famous Gangstarr Test Pressing with Biggie's verse! He's hoarding those for a rainy day.

Anywayz, long story short this is why I've been "busy" lately. I'm not nearly wealthy enough to buy all that I want from this huge collection, I have to be very picky with my money as it is just "too good" (as if there ever was such a thing as that). Seriously, it's kind of overwhelming to dig through that many 50-100$ records and know when to say when...

So incidentally, as he gets through these boxes all of this is getting listed online for sale. If anything catches your eye just check for Metrowax updates every Tue, Thur and Saturday nights over the next 6-8 months for your chance to buy some original Hip Hop records that maybe you haven't found yet. Much of it will be very reasonably priced. He's already sold a copy of Gangstarr Full Clip 4LP sealed to some dude in China. Gradually these are being listed but as of right now he hasn't even scraped the surface. There are still plenty of unopened boxes with who knows what in them, so luckily I still have some good days of digging ahead.

I'll update this thread as we unearth more of the good stuff. In the meantime don't forget to check Metrowax updates for the next few months, you'll find some good stuff I can promise you that. thumbs up

Dude, you are SO lucky! That Bloods vs. Crips record is classic! I used that Piru Love all day when I was 13, haha.

Anyway, we could make a request to keep your eye out for a certain record or two, for purchase obviously, 3rd dibbs?
