I've accumulated some pretty cool sound effect records over the years but lately I've been collecting this old set of Sound Effects records specifically designed for royalty free use for radio stations, TV and movies.

No Artist - Major Records Presents Sound Effects "From a Cat's Meow to a Lion's Roar... A Pistol Shot to a World War LP (Major Records) Unknown Years (50s thru 60s?)

As of today (5-16-2014) I have volumes 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14,17, 19, 21 and 23.

90 percent of this stuff is mono recordings of everything from footsteps, to jungle noises, farm animals, every caliber gun you can imagine being fired including Big Bertha, street noise, science fiction noises, people talking, clapping, fighting, debating, horses galloping, circuses, pigeons, rain, thunder, st. peter's bells, crickets, cash registers, printing presses, IBM computers, ocean liners, Nazi's saying Sieg Heil, boings, Pope blessing people in Rome, a pin ball machine and divers working under water.

and a lot more vintage mono sound effects.

WARNING NERD TALK: This is no joke, but I think I found the original source of the sound of the Tie Fighter noise used in Star Wars in one of the Sci Fi effect sections. It's not the same at full speed, but if you slow it down you get the sound Lucas used. This was created in the 50s, so it supersedes Star Wars by decades. Maybe I'm wrong but hell if it's not close.

This stuff is a microproducer's dream. You can build beats from the gunshots and start from there.

I have other sound effects records, but I figured for this thread I'd start with this series. I'll add on later, but after you guys do...

Q: Anyone have sound effect records? Not library records but strictly sound effects?

Add on...shaggy

Ok, apparently I am wrong as per the wikipedia Tie Fighter entry...

Sound designer Ben Burtt created the distinctive TIE fighter sound effect by combining an elephant call with a car driving on wet pavement.

...However, I'm pretty sure I'm not totally crazy. But I recorded it just in case...

^Listen to this, it's less than 6 seconds long, I recorded the effect in question by playing it forward and backwards. I'll be damned if that doesn't sound like a Tie Fighter.

Meanwhile....

Here's a few more Sound Effect Records I have...

Adams & Fleisner - Digital Space Effects LP (Break Records) 1984

^Dope vintage synths all over this disc.

Various - Collectors Edition (Dr Who Sound Effects plus Story Record, plus 7" ) 2LP (BBC) 1982

^This is fantastic. Got this for 2 bucks at a pawn shop and it's mint.

Wes Harrison ‎– The One And Only LP (No Label) 1969

^OMG my copy is SIGNED!! LOL. For those who don't know this guy makes a lot of cool sound effects using his mouth only. Before Michael Winslow of Police Academy, this guy made every noise under the sun. Even Babu sampled this disc for his Duck Seasons series of mixtapes. I remember seeing this guys act at the Tommy Bartlet show in Wisconsin Dells as a kid and I remember it like it was yesterday. He did the sound of a steam locomotive pulling into a station complete with the clickity-clack of the wheels on the railroad track that was almost perfect.
