If you are clicking on this first page of this thread for the first time you will know why we have the 5 pics and videos per post rule imposed. You'll grow old watching this page load. old geezer Sorry bout that! worried

Anyways here's 2 I bumped recently...

Chick Willis - The Way You're Stooping Down / I Can Deal With That 7" (Markeda Records) 1974

^Pretty groovy funk stormer starting out with Chick shouting "Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for..." sampled by RJD2 in his IMO classic album "Since We Last Spoke" I cant recall the song but he uses it over and over again and it works well. Funny how something so insignificant to the original song it was taken from can be the basic structure of another song altogether. But besides that, this is a nice funk 45 to grab if you see it in the wild.

Horace Silver ‎– The Jody Grind \ Pt. 2 7" (Blue Note) 1966

^Can't go wrong with Horace and this late 60s mod jazz romper has some real funky moments particularly the part 2 side of this record. Sometimes the whole part 2 thing works for 45s, others not so much, this one works.

I heard the master tape was lost for the Jody Grind LP IIRC. I'm keeping an eye out for a decent affordable pressing of that one.

Figured it's about time to bump this thread...

Lately I've been trying to pick up a lot of Cherries 45s and ABC (Austin Boogie Crew) 45s. I have a few more but here's some that I've been playing lately...

Cherries Records

^One of my favorite Cherries 45s is this one...

Here's the audio for this one, kinda reminds me of some Chaka Khan beats on this...

Here's a cheesy but great sounding 45, by Doug Shorts...

Cherries records even put out a low budget MTV 80s style video for that, check it out.

ABC Records

ABC has some great 80s revival joints too, almost like James Pants in a way but even more throwback...

Lots of great 45s on this label too, check out this audio clip...

It's pretty cool to hear this vibe unearthed and modernized for the 45, I'm always looking for this kind of 80s sound.

^Not really familiar with this stuff at all, but some slick production on those tracks. Sounds like they are taking the 80s vibes pretty seriously. I dig it.

^Yeah, there's a 80s revival niche that is steadily growing right now. Cherries records out of Chicago can take some of thecredit but it's starting to branch out nicely into other groups and labels. I'm digging the ABC stuff too.
