Thought I would make a broad thread to cover some stuff that might not fit under the other electronic music threads. This is for stuff like Autechre and other Warp Records type artists, Glitch artists like Oval, Microsound type artists from labels like Line/12K, Mego, and Raster-Noton, Fennesz, and so on. Contemporary artists working in these styles also welcome.

Autechre - Tri Repetae

Now here is a classic everyone should know. I listened to this in the car the other day and was astounded by how good the album still sounds (very detailed and well produced) years later. For awhile my opinion on this album went down due to the flood of imitators that came on the scene during the late 90s and very early 2000s. This album stands the test of time though, and even though Autechre would make more complex and arguably more accomplished albums later, there is something special about this one.

^That guy is one of the most complex electronic musicians I've ever heard. Very good but extremely heady. 5 levels above you type shit.

Rchecka, it's actually two guys smiling smiley, and that album is nowhere as complex as they'd become (some will say too complex for their own good), but still has a lot of details to discover. Hard to believe it came out in '96 and still sounds very fresh. After 2001 or so, I sort of stopped following them because the material they were putting out didn't really appeal to me. I missed a whole run of albums until grabbing Exai, which I think came out a couple years ago. That is a good album but one that takes several listens to fully absorb. I'd recommend getting anything from Amber thru LP5 first. Unfortunately a lot of these are OOP on vinyl and command premium prices, but maybe Warp will get around to reissuing them at some point.

Good info. For some reason I thought it was one guy. I don't have any of their albums but I have a few of their remixes of other artists here and there so I know very little.
