QuoteGordon Rekcikssa QuoteLionsMouth Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers - The Furious Era 1979-1987 This is a band that should have gotten way more attention than they did here in the States. I have the 400 Fascists 7" around somewhere, along with a dubbed cassette with some other stuff of theirs. I definitely need to look into picking this up if I can run across a copy somewhere. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Aura Noir - Out To Die Inferna Profundus Records, 2013 That sounds pretty good. I've been meaning to check out this band for a while, actually. I see that they are coming to the U.S. soon. No dates near me unfortunately.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers - The Furious Era 1979-1987 So here is a discography collection I've been waiting for a long time. These guys were a semi-legendary hardcore punk band from Italy that definitely have their own style. Rather than attempting to describe their sound, I'll just say take a listen. Unfortunately distribution of this title is rather limited in the U.S.,by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Borbetomagus - A Pollock Of Sound MVD Visual, 2017 That looks interesting for sure. I like that they included the bonus live show. More documentary films should do that.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Ride - Weather Diaries Continuing the trend of 90s acts reuniting and doing new albums, here is the latest from Ride. My expectations were pretty high considering how great they were when I saw them on their last U.S. tour. I also think this album provided an opportunity for them to right the mistakes they made on their final two albums. On my first listen, I will say that I'm very plby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
At this point I have been using the Vessel A3SE exclusively for over two weeks. The cart is fully broken in at this point. Here is a summary of my final thoughts: Cartridge Pedigree: From some internet digging the OEM for this cart appears to be Excel Sound Corporation, and the cart appears to be based on the Excel ES-70 model, but built to LPGear's specifications. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Obituary - The End Complete original release by R/C Records (Roadrunner), 1992 this pressing by Metal Blade Records, 2014 Nice pick. I like Obituary but only have the Cause of Death album. I need to get their first and this one. Even the non-remastered CD pressings of these are hard to find these days at good prices.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
CAD - Bastard New CAD album is out. On my first listen right now, sounds great. Bandcamp Page Purchase CDby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Paul Serrano Quintet - Blues Holiday LP Discogs Page Here is a nice example of where crate-digging for lesser known jazz gems works out. I'd never heard of Serrano, but my thought process was as follows: Cool cover? Check. Riverside Records? Check, classic label Lineup? Pete La Roca on drums, this has to be good... Back cover notes? A Cannonball Adderley Productionby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Cough - Ritual Abuse Relapse Records, 2010 That's some heavy stuff!by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa QuoteLionsMouth Translator - Heartbeats and Triggers LP I vaguely remember seeing this before. My brother may have had a copy of it at one time or something. Based on those clips you posted, I should really check into findig this album. It's an underrated gem, not too hard to find and not expensive. I definitely recommend getting a copy.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
A couple of pics from a recent live show. If you ever have the chance to see either of these bands, go. Third Coast Kings Durand Jones and the Indicationsby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Translator - Heartbeats and Triggers LP Here's an American post-punk/college rock classic that's been pretty much ignored and forgotten these days. As such, you can pick it up for next to nothing. Translator took some influences from obvious things like the Velvet Underground and maybe the Modern Lovers also, but had their own sound. When they really get going with the driving guby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Duke Ellington - Indigos LP I'm not too well versed in Ellington, but I do appreciate some of his stuff. Picked up this recently, it's a 1958 release made up of slow ballads. For some people this might be a bit too low key and old fashioned, but in the right mood I can dig this. This particularly copy is a reissue Impex Records (a specialty audiophile label) did a few years back,by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Rodger Coleman & Sam Byrd - Indeterminate NuVoid Jazz, 2013 Definitely some 20th Century Avant Classical vibes going on there. That sounds pretty cool.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Grateful Dead - "The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)" b/w "Cream Puff War" Rhino Records, 2017 Artwork looks nice. It looks like these are numbered? Both songs are good too, though I prefer the Stonesy meets surf vibe of the second one. I don't really collect 7''s anymore but I could see Dead collectors jumping on these.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Miroslav Vitous - Infinite Search LP Here is a great early 70s jazz album I was unaware of until recently. Miroslav is a bass player from the Czech Republic that you've probably heard on Weather Report records. This album is a bit different than Weather Report though, not as straight up fusion and heading more toward the avant-garde at times. The supporting cast here are all big namesby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Alice Coltrane - Translinear Light Impulse!, 2004 That first track sounded great. I'd buy that for sure. I think as listeners we often dismiss late career albums unfairly...by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Hiro Yanagida - Hirocosmos original Japanese release by CBS/Sony, 1973 - this CD by Showboat, 2004 This sounds quite nice. I think most jazz fusion fans would be interested in it. Have to add that to the wishlist.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Willie Nile - S/T Discogs Page Now here is an album I meant to check out for some time but never did. At face value, Nile is a folk-rock based singer-songwriter schooled in Dylan, but the somewhat raw production and instrumentation give it a slight punky/new wave feel.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Ignite - Call on My Brothers Discogs Page On a bit of a 90s nostalgia kick this morning and decided to put this on. Originally released on the ill-fated Conversion label back in 1995, this was a breath of fresh air during the mid-90s when chugga-chugga metalcore was seemingly taking over the hardcore scene. Ignite's sound is reminiscent of 80s melodic hardcore bands like Uniformby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa QuoteLionsMouth Blue in Heaven - All the Gods' Men LP Yet another one that escaped my attention before now. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for this. I really dig that song in the video. I only just found out about this band. Cover caught my eye while digging at a local shop. You can probably find a copy for less than five dollars.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Shark Move - Ghede Chokra's originally released on Shark Move Records, 1971 - this CD by Shadoks Music, 2006 Looks and sounds pretty wild. Adding to my wishlist.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Blue in Heaven - All the Gods' Men LP Mid-80s post-punk from Ireland. Released on Island Records and produced by Martin Hannett. Doesn't break any new ground really but they've got a little personality and a good sound. A very overlooked record that you can also pick up cheaply.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Treat Her Right - Tied To The Tracks RCA, 1989 Very cool. I meant to check this band out for years due to the Morphine connection but never did.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

Thoughts of Ionesco - A Skin Historic These guys were a hardcore/noise rock band from Michigan around during the mid to late 90s. I saw the band a number of times then and the shows ranged from very good to "everything falling apart". I think a lot of people got burnt out on them at the time because they were the perennial opening band for national hardcore acts that came throughby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Xasthur - Telepathic With The Deceased Moribund Records, 2004 Not my area of expertise at all but there's definitely a hypnotic effect to this style of black metal when the guitars are a bit buzzy and the vocals are pushed back in the mix. Need to investigate further.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
