Quoterchecka ^Listening now, pretty cool! Bandcamp beatsmiths getting signed to Stones Throw must be a hell of an honor and financial relief. A real hard work's paying off moment. Dunno how their deals are structured or how well their artists make out, but even bigger name indie acts make a lot less than you'd expect after everything is taken before they get paid.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Quotejaybrown I have a hard time deciding if I like that one or Illadelph Halflife the best . I'm still a fan of the a Roots but I definitely prefer their earlier work . Haven't kept up with the later albums, though I should probably go back and check them out at some point. Illadelph is special to me because I bought it when it came out and it got me into them. ^ Very nice. Free is definitely great but it looks like you have some nice picks there. I have a more recent pressing of that Max Roach album, that one is great. Not familiar with those specific Brubeck records but anything by him from the 50s or 60s is at least worth a shot. I've seen that Sonny with MJQ LP a few times while digging but always in trashed condition.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Pussy Riot - In Riot We Trust Oi! The Nische Records, 2017 That track sounded pretty good. I'd only heard about them through the news and never any of their music until just now.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Primordial Massacre - The Law Of Club And Mace not on label - self released, 2017 You're not kidding when you said that was raw. It actually reminds me a bit of pre-2nd wave bands like Von, Poison (Germany), and Sarcafago.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
The Foxx era Ultravox! stuff is kind of hard to classify. The Ure era is more conventional but good too. That one is my favorite of theirs overall. I think the first six albums are all really solid. First four are absolutely mandatory IMHO. I've said this before but don't ignore John Foxx's solo stuff either. His first three albums are all great. I might even say that I like The Gaby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Sayer - Cosmic Voyagers A recent Bandcamp discovery. This is neo-Berlin School sequencer music that's heavy on the beats. This sort of thing can be difficult to do right but I think he pulled it off here. Really good album all the way through. The YouTube clip I'm posting is a fan upload that barely gives you a taste of how good the album is. Stream/Purchase via Bandcampby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Haven't heard that RevCo track in forever. Used to hear it on college radio in the 90s a lot. I like that they took a really bad Rod song and made it kind of amusing.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Thorr's Hammer - Dommedagsnatt Original cassette released by Moribund, 1996 - this CD reissued by Southern Lord, 1998 I remember seeing ads and/or reading reviews for this a LONG time ago. Maybe Worm Gear zine or something? Don't remember. Anyway, I should check this out.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Crazy. Sounds like the company has a lot of problems. If the allegations in the lawsuit are true, that's really fucked up.by LionsMouth - General Discussion

Past - Czarno/Biala Female fronted post-punk revival from Poland. The vocals and songs make this stand out from the usual rehash IMHO. Vinyl is out in Europe already and supposed to be released in the U.S. later this year. Until then you can grab a FLAC download from Bandcamp. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Overkill - The Years Of Decay Megaforce Worldwide/Atlantic Records, 1989 Nice pick. One of those bands I never got into but I'm interested in checking out now. I think a couple of their albums have been on my heavy metal wishlist for awhile, just haven't gotten around to buying them yet.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa QuoteLionsMouth Damon Eliza Palermo - Clouds of David - Cassette Tape I checked this out on Bandcamp just now, and I really dig this album. I tend to have times where I get into stuff that has a laid-back sound to it, and this seems just about right for those moments. Pretty unique, too, with a post-rock/new age feel. For some reason it actually reminds me of The Cocteauby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Damon Eliza Palermo - Clouds of David - Cassette Tape Got this tape the other day. Full disclosure: I actually know the guy that made it, so I'm probably a bit biased. You may recognize his name from the indie rock band Mi Ami, he played drums in that band and they put out some records for Touch & Go and Thrill Jockey. In recent years he's been primarily known as a house musiby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Metallica - St. Anger Elektra, 2003 I'm with you on the classic Metallica period being over at the end of the 80s. Although the Black album is regarded by many as a classic now, I never thought it was that great. A few months ago I grabbed a CD of the Black album for $5 from a big box store and was surprised how much I liked it. Not something I'll put on allby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

^Very lame. I've seen that happen with punk/hardcore bootlegs too. Some guy downloads mp3 needledrops of a rare record and then sends it to a shady plant to be pressed up on LP or 7''. The sad part is the records sell even though it is often obvious what is going on. Props for letting people know what's up and shame on that shitbag for doing what he did.by LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Not a Thorens guru but I do know that pulleys often need to be changed when changing voltage on a belt drive turntable. If you need parts and advice I'd try the Vinyl Engine forum or hit up the Vinyl Nirvana guy that does Thorens resto work and sells parts.by LionsMouth - Turntable Help and Technical Questions

Halftribe - Daydreams in Low Fidelity This came up in my Bandcamp feed a few times so I decided to check it out. It sounds equally influenced by dub techno as the microsound/glitch stuff, but a lot of beats have been stripped back significantly. Need more listens to form a solid opinion, but I'm liking this so far. Bandcamp Pageby LionsMouth - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Pailhead - Trait Wax Trax! Records, 1988 Pailhead is one of those things I always meant to buy but never did. Maybe I need to move that higher up on the wishlist. Kinda funny that Ian worked with Jourgensen, who at one point probably became more well known for his drug problems than his music. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Mortiis - Født Til Å Herske Haven't thought about Mortiis in awhile, probably haven't heard any of his stuff in years. I never really got into his sound, but I think I had a couple tracks on an old CMI comp. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa Man, I just love Steve Roach so much. That dude puts out so much quality stuff, it's unreal. He was one of the first non-European synth musicians I really got in to. I only started really getting into him over the last two years. I probably have over 30 albums at this point and still feel like I've only scratched the surface of his massive discography.
