Just finished doing a set at a J. Dilla tribute event, so here it is, live and raw.
If you're up this late, and need some Sunday night music, I recorded my set at Dozo Domo this afternoon - an afternoon of beats by James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla. A mixture of raw beat tape selections, a wide slice from all eras of his incredibly productive decade in hip hop, and some of his sign

So, trying something a bit different, and most likely a world first mind you, with the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia this Sunday - recording some scratching onto an Edison Wax Cylinder.
Check out a quick video of this oddity over on my IG:

One of my major niche quirks is Jamaican Dancehall 45s - so here's a little mix if you're the curious type.

I love how it hits hard.
How about... Dust Brothers using 'Synthetic Substitution' for their hard hitting production on .... 'Mmmbop'?

Haha. Totes not the intention! I think it's a kind reminder that our heroes .. Are just major records too. Got a lot of tales and photos through the years - and it's always via connecting through music that makes it happen.

Primarily English ... Or guttural, haha. I do make a point though over the last few years to only buy 'local' records when I'm travelling. Kinda like overpriced sonic postcards.
Should clarify what 'local' means - if I'm in an English speaking place, then II try to keep it to records from that city and surrounds, or at a stretch state. If I'm in a non-English

I've played and shared a few meals with Hideaki a few times over the years, as well as traded some records during those times.

You listened to Sophie B Hawkins' 'Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover?' lately? Do so, and get back to me.

Thanks all, and no probs Rchecka on the repost
A friend of mine recently dropped a pretty penny on a matching 2 x GP-3 and GMX combo. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bidding in it as well, but alas, twas not meant to be.
I picked up my GP-3 when they were at the more desirable $129-ish USD, but alas, doesn't appear to be the way anymore. I find it shocking as all hell that H

Do you have one? What's in yours?
I do.
It sort of stems from three reasons:
1. I live in bushfire prone Australia. In my particular area, about 15 years ago, one took out a good chunk of houses . I had friends that lived in some of those houses, and whilst they happily came away safely, some lost major collections. I had one friend (my dad's buddy) lose a collection of EVERY S

...there's been a lot of anti-RSD chatter on the Net lately, so I took some time over the weekend to dig through my photo folders, and put them into a few photo collections.
I've been to hundreds of record stores over the years, and if I'm not too distracted digging, then I take photos. So, here's a few snapshots to remind people about what core of RSD is - Record Stores. N

Greetings.
GP-3 is absolutely what I think most people are looking for in a portable. I've had one for years now. It's been well maintained and been through some storms. HandyTrax and PT-01 just can't compare. There's smaller ones, ones that sound better / louder, but GP-3 gets the balance right.

Gotta remind yourself that it's a sales brochure.
Sales talk moved towards convenience once digital rolled around...

Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Hey folk. Rchecka stumbled upon me over on imgur, and thought I could contribute to this forum. I'm an Australian who travels a lot (CBR, other homebases being MNL and ORD), so I do get to a fair amount of record travelling around the place.
I've been a DJ for a very long time - but it's something I started doing because I had a record collection (as opposed to collecting recor
