Why do you like Rap music?
What used to get you going?
What still does?
Has your taste in Rap changed over time?
If so how?

I like a certain styles of Rap, and others I can pass on.
Some loved 2Pac more than Biggie (Biggie for me).
What is your thing?

Sorry, Boom-Bap, yer good people, fam, and this lil jab is not trolling, it's strictly outta love, and you know I had to do it. smileys with beer

On a serious tip, it's a good discussion, just joking around... Don't wanna squash your point, but you could be a lil less vague LOL. Like what do you mean exactly? Like how our tastes in rap has grown? I still listen to some of the stuff I played in high school but a good chunk of it I look back wonder WTF I was thinking.

I haven't appreciated rap music in too many years to count.

What used to get you going?

anyone spitting over take me to the mardi gra (the bells) I just love that beat

What still does?
no one really new but I tell you I have the furious, funky, fearless, cold crush and them all in my mp3. listening to those guys bump up my day.

Has your taste in Rap changed over time?
yes to the point I can't tolerate it. it's sad but an artform I once loved totally turns me off.

I was team 2pac never was a biggie fan. I don't know why. I can listen to him more today but at the height of his popularity I didn't understand what the big deal was.

If they did it like they used to,
I'd still prefer the Old School.

Why do you like Rap music? Hip hop is my life. It has basically help shape the way I think , and how I navigate the world. It's much deeper than just music for me. I'm in the process of making hip hop my business as well, stay tuned.
What used to get you going?
Well, I'm not gonna sit here and front like these new artists are what gives me my inspiration but let's just say that now I give credit where credit is due. What's so great about growing up in that early era of rap ( I was a little girl maybe 10 or so when Art of noise "Beatbox" came out and that record changed my life!) we saw the artists grow and change and evolve. We literally "grew up" with the artists...nowadays the time span is so short Blythe time the artists actually begin to evolve they are already has beens. What gets me going really is basically what hip hop/ rap music at its core --beats and rhymes...
What still does? My answer essentially remains the same - Beats and rhymes .....challenge me in any way,stylistically,lyrically,mentally- I'm not gonna beat anybody over the head about subject matter but if you deliver it to me in such a way that challenges me ,I'll rock with it.
Has your taste in Rap changed over time?
If so how? Interestingly enough,my tastes really haven't really changed...I have been unhappy with hip hop at different times in my life....disillusioned to the point where I would not listen for a long time....but I would always come back..

Well, I don't like confine myself to liking one thing, I love many styles, different types of artists, different sounds. The great thing about hip hop at one time used to be its diversity...but I still have hope.

At the height of their success, I can't say I was a fan of Biggie or Tupac per se. I was of course closeted because I'm Brooklyn born and raised so it would've been suicide to publicly declare myself not that big of a fan of Biggie at the time. I appreciate what both of them brought to the music but not necessarily what they brought to the culture at that time. I would now consider myself a big fan of both for many reasons but mostly because they both had the same tenacity and drive and love for what they did.

Why do you like Rap music?
I didn't originally,I had just liked the breakbeats that they played in the park.
My voice was deep and raspy since like I was 4.Haha.My boy Tre'Dee said with that voice I should rap.
So i tried it out,and liked the way the girls came to the ropes.Since then I was hooked.

What used to get you going?
I liked the mid 90s rap the best.It was more lyrical.Violent yes, but i was younger then and I
thought it was on point.

What still does?
Nothing really today, but there are some producers that still manage to lay some decent tracks behind these new rap artist.

Has your taste in Rap changed over time?

I don't think it maintained the variety that rap needed over the years.
So I got turned off, these days I listen to more jazz and soul.

I was born in Brooklyn, raised in The Bronx so I always dug Biggie more than Pac.
Biggie's beats was more bass orientated, and his lyrics was more in your face...
