After reading all the comments I thought I was going to hear Mel say something outlandish but after watching the video I can't say disagree with anything he said. His main points are through the years the music industry changed Hip Hop to platform to promote negativity. Thus as result you see all that negativity present in the lives of many of this generation. His point is no different than Homboy Sandman's article of the power of words (here.

Rchekca stated "Dissed everyone in the Golden Age of Hip Hop and beyond as "that aint New York Rappin"."
On that point what Mel said was right after Rakim & Kane there was no progression. Mos,Talib,Jay & BIG are dope emcees but are they radically different than what came them,ie Rakim & Kane? Compare Rakim,KRS,Kane to Run DMC,Whodini and others there's huge progression but with many the 90's era emcees it's just revamped Rakim/Kane style of rapping. No real progression. In my view that's not dissing the truth.
