The group dynamic (vocally speaking) - Eye miss 3, 4, 5 cats with complex vocal routines, harmonizing, trading off lines, etc.... Beasties, LONS, J5 and very few others tried to keep it alive but, that was an art form within the art of emceeing. Clans, crews, cliques, posses and the like did nothing to build on that technique...by then, there was too much emphasis on the solo emcee.
The "Rap Industry"....or more specifically, the nature of the record business and the destructive effect it had/has on the culture of Hip Hop. Hip Hop was at it's cultural apex when it was still largely a grass roots movement. Now they try to get Hip Hop from concentrate....take 10% essence, add water, shake well....you end up with 4000 weak servings instead of 40 cups of pure premium!!! Too many inferior products on the shelf...makes it hard to find the quality sh*t.
