Okay , so I said 5 . Not to downplay Dilla , but there are a nice big handful of producers alive and dead that could hold his kinda stature . I think the fact that he passed and the fact that real heads like to keep hip hop legends alive , has brought a massive ( but well deserved ) hype around the name and the legend that I hope lives on . It's no doubt that he was mad nice with his beats . And the fact that everything he did was not quantized added a nice organic / human touch that nobody in the game can match IMO . Dilla was / is the man , and we for sure won't hear another beat maker just like him , but I had to say 5 because if I said more , then that's just a slap in the face to cats like Primo , Diamond D , Pete Rock , Alchemist , etc ..... That list could go on and on . Mad love and respect to Dilla ... R.I.P....

I'm going with a 5 also. While I respect and like a lot of Dilla's shit, theres also a lot that I don't like from him, and too many other producers I would rate above him.

50%, In any school that's flunking. IMO (<It's all about opinion, but DAMN.) to be fair he deserves more than that for Donuts alone.

He broke ground with some of his early classics, even if you forget about the hype, or the recent post-mortem ish, you still have those staples other producers use as a baseline.
