Friday Night Slept on HH Albums #14

Da King & I - Contemporary Jeep Music LP (Rowdy Records) 1993

^Is it just me or was 1993 a very good year for Hip Hop?

I think this is easily one of the most slept on Hip Hop albums of all time. It's not rare, but it's hard to find in good shape because there's enough people that know that every single track on this LP is the joint.

Aptly titled, and I can't describe it better than "Contemporary Jeep Music", so I'll just leave it with this... If this is not already in your crates, there is a void that you didn't even know existed. If you spot this in good condition, I highly recommend you jump on it.

My man.... don't let me go in to how much I love this album. Pure doneness!!!

This album has been in rotation (for me) since it dropped in '93. "lost my mind... yo, I lost my mind!"

peace.

Friday Night Slept on HH Albums #15

Dälek ‎- From Filthy Tongue Of Gods And Griots LP (Ipecac Recordings) 2002

^So while Da King and I is straight up golden age niceness, this is a completely different animal from that. File under Industrial Hip Hop. This is on the verge of not being Hip Hop but the rapper is straight up rapping and the time structure is straight up Hip Hop albeit unconventionally loud gristling beats. You gotta be in the angsty mood or a great mood to listen to this harsh but smart underground Hip Hop. One things for sure, don't play this shit at the club.

@Rchecka, that album is great, really hit me when I first heard it several years ago. I think their entire run up through Gutter Tactics was pretty solid. Not sure if I heard anything after that or even if the project is still active. I don't pull out their stuff as often as I should either...

^Did you hear their track on Techno Animal - The Brotherhood Of The Bomb? That's how I found out about them. That album is also great BTW if you like Dälek.

^No, I never heard that. I'm not even sure I've got any Techno Animal at all, besides maybe a track on a comp somewhere. Have you ever heard the group ICE? that was another Godflesh-related leftfield hip-hop/electronic dub influenced project that I always meant to check out but never got around to.
