Have you ever heard the group ICE?

No, not familiar with them either, but sounds interesting.

It's about that time...

Friday Night Slept on HH Albums #16

CunninLynguists - Will Rap For Food LP (Boiling Point Distribution) 2002

^Kentucky\Georgia based UGHH crew CunninLynguists dropped this monster of a debut album back in 2002. Track for track, the production is consistently dope, laden with smart and surprising samples. From classical music violins looped on the first track, to a drastic tempo change that started with straight boom bap and shifted into drum and bass rhythms, the production alone takes you on a trip. The rhymes are at times a bit left-nerdy, but still street, witty, not snotty. Overall, this album is short and sweet, and ultimately they dropped a brilliant debut that for whatever reason... got slept on. ZZZZzzzz...

Big Cunninlynguists fan right here . Those dudes are DOPE !! I am jealous of that album . I never have enough dough to cop it when I see it for sale . Sloppy Seconds vol. 2 is my favorite Cunninlynguists joint . Some serious heat on that mixtape. Sadly , I don't think it got the vinyl treatment.

Wow - listened to Da King and I the other day, and now I'm making my way through Will Rap For Food - that's a couple of great records.

^Thanks man.

I should have posted this last night, but hey, better late than never...

Friday Night Slept On Hip Hop Albums #17

Grav - Down to Earth LP (Correct Records) 1996

^Some very dope early Kanye beats make this a very solid Chitown Hip Hop album. Grav isn't the strongest rapper ever, very subtle and mellow, the opposite of cocky, but he is definitely down to earth so it's an aptly titled album.
