Since I noticed a number of /r/vinyl former posters and refugees in this message board, I've been paring down my postings on the subreddit due to the sheer number of low-effort and low-content threads and posts seeking insta-validation, increasing trolling from various posters, poor and lacking proper moderation, people posting misinformation about Crosley/LP60 players, etc. As LionsMouth said before, it's the blind leading the blind, but don't get me wrong, there's still a number of good people in the subreddit and I wish them luck. However, I will continue to make updates to my "Turntables to Avoid" and "Best Entry-Level Turntable" guides from time to time.

Yeah, one of the big problems for me was that a few members put a lot of work into those guides. I thought they were well done and served people pretty well whether they wanted to purchase new or used equipment. The problem was, hardly anyone seemed to actually look at them. If they did, a lot of questions would've been answered and it would've avoided so many pointless threads.

I also didn't like that the sub seemed to be about anything other than actually digging and listening to music. It was like "here's what I bought", "look at what I got out of mom's closet", or "look I bought these records because everyone says you need to have them whether I actually like them or not". Lots of lazy posters and not a lot of individuality at all.

I've actually found more interesting discussion on IG from certain users, which is pretty sad considering the main purpose of that platform is simply to post pics and hashtags.

I'm actually thinking about copying/mirroring my guides on the Turntable Guide and Technical Questions thread, assuming this is okay with everyone else here.

And I'm also quite annoyed with so many unnecessary threads of people's pickups of countless dad rock and other "essential" (shudder...) records. People requested the /r/vinyl moderators to create a weekly stickied thread just for all recent record purchases but is continuously and roundly rejected. Which means any interesting/worthy discussion threads kept getting pushed aside with the sheer flood of LP purchases.

Those guides are fine to post in that section of the forum. Just make a separate thread for each guide. That part of the forum doesn't get a ton of action here, which is probably a good thing in many ways. I've been using it to post the occasional product review. If you've got any product/accessory/whatever stuff you'd like to review feel free to post that stuff there as well.

Confession time: I actually like a lot of classic rock or "dadrock" as people call it these days. However, I like a lot of other stuff too. You're not gonna see me posting beat to shit copies of Stones, Beatles, etc. records all the time anywhere.

Essential records: that's one of my biggest pet peeves. There is no such thing as universally essential records. The only thing essential is whatever music you like.
