...not an award winner, but a good, sign of the time, movie...for me...


....If you like Michael Mann/Paul Michael Glaser...and was a fan of Miami Vice, the you'll appreciate this one.....

Yes P,I remember that one well ( Boys of Company C),but believe it or not it did not give as much favor as you would think.In terms of originality and close to my own experiences the boot camp part of Full Metal Jacket was spot on to the exact detail of the squadbay and surroundings.The early eighties was about the last times where the D.I. physically hit the recruits,they can't do it anymore.Also for the fact that Ermey was a D.I. in real life made it about as real as it could get.Only Pvt.Pyle could have never snuck those rounds off the range as to every round is accounted for.If a few was missing the entire platoon would have police called the entire rifle range until they found them.So that part was pure hollywood.Also they don't explain how he made it to the head in the first place with the rifle.The fire watch (Matthew Modine) would have seen him when he got out of the rack.Also he would have had to unlock his rifle which they are secured to the ends of the rack.

The movie with Jan Michael Vincent portraying a SanDiego boot that was a pacifist was a very good movie also.I can't remember the name of it.

As for military movies my all time favorite is Seven Days in May.Because of the realism.
Those who go back a little will remember when Reagan got shot, Gen. Alexander Haig had reportedly
pushed around his might to the tune of taking over instead of Bush's dad who was V.P.It was some interesting times.The movie depicts a power hungry General (Burt Lancaster) plotting a coup against the president (Frederic March)The scene where there is a confrontation between the two as far as the annals of movies go, is epic.Home boy was buggin'...but the guys from these times did not play they could act there asses off.Kirk Douglas was also in this movie.
