Well , my heart was just broken to find out that Sharon Jones has passed from the cancer that she had been fighting . She put up an excellent fight , but sadly lost . Her music will always have a special place in my heart ...

Terrible news!

Man, what a loss. She was the queen of modern soul and funk in my book. Her voice had an edge to it that could not be touched.

Very sad right now, I thought she was getting better.

I stupidly put off seeing her live show over the past few years, big mistake. Also recall reading she was recovering, which makes this fairly unexpected.

Cancer affects a lot of people, young and old, as well as people you'd never expect it to touch. A few weeks ago I learned a former colleague is battling cancer. This is a guy not even 40, runs marathons, etc.
