Reckless stores the discs separately from the covers - I really didn't want to spend the time digging, go to the counter, look over the vinyl, rinse, repeat, so I was only there 10 minutes or so. The selection looked like it was pretty well picked over, but I think it would be a decent place to grab common stuff. Caveat - I only looked in the Soul/R&B section before I moved on.

Yeah, the space/affordability/convenience trade-offs required to live in big cities (especially in America) are painful. I love them, but I'd need a really compelling reason to live in one.

Yeah, I remember that about Reckless. They even do that with the new stuff. I guess it's a theft deterrent, but I'm not really a fan of that approach. Reminds me of CD shops from the 90s where all the cases would be empty and the stores weren't always good at storing the discs, so even new CDs would be scratched - annoying. To be fair, none of the new records I got from Reckless a few years ago had any problems, but still.

RE: big cities - having lived in some, there are definite tradeoffs. Sometimes those tradeoffs can be worth it though. It really depends where you are at in life, what your job/career is, and whether you have a family with children. There are tradeoffs with living in smaller towns and cities also (been there). It really just depends on your personal situation.
