I'm in Chicago for the long weekend - anyone have record store suggestions? Staying just north of Millennium Park near the lake. For once I plan to have some empty luggage space, so I should be able to bring a dozen or so records back with me. Any music venue recommendations would be great too.

I second Dusty Groove. The downside to the store is that there's a lot of stuff that's packed away in a warehouse. If you see something you want online, they may be able to arrange for pick up or send it wherever you need it to go.

I haven't been to any of the Reckless stores in a few years so I have no idea how they are now. That's the biggest local shop in Chicago AFAIK. They have a lot of stock but the good stuff goes quickly and prices may be higher than you'd like.

I always wanted to check out Jazz Record Mart, but never got to before it closed. The former owner has a new shop called "Bob's Blues and Jazz Mart" that I want to hit up sometime.

Thanks for the suggestions. I couldn’t get out to Dusty Groove - just not enough time. I did stop in Reckless Records briefly, but didn’t find anything in my short visit.

The city’s fantastic - wish it hadn’t been so damned hot, though. Here’s a few pics:

^Very cool. How was Reckless over all? Good store?

Chi-town is such a cool town to explore, so much to do and so much to see... but I wouldn't want to live there.

A chair that can't be sat in is indeed artistic. Kind of like a monarchy that doesn't rule.((giggle))
