you have to take in consideration that she is the "it girl" now, not based on; her looks....her dance moves...her provactive sluttyness...or slender/sexy (by media standards) body disposition - it's all based on her music, the songwriting of her songs and her voice. In my books, that bucks the system, in terms of the bullshit that has been so popular (over the past 5 years) in the world of popular/commerical music...where everything is based on image and disposible music.

Are her hits overplayed?! Absolutely, they are...even I turn the (radio) channel when they play the hits songs of hers that they've been playing 10 times a day, every day, for the past 10-12 months...but still, i do acknowledge that she knocked those songs out the box, vocally.

She's the type of artist/singer, that I forsee maybe not acheiving the success that she did on this latest album (and year)....with all the grammy awards and shit - who knows?! maybe she will - but will, never-the-less, be taken as a force (going forward) and could very well still have a honoroable and fairly successful overall career 10 - 15 year down the road...maybe even longer....

I just file her under "talented artist with strong voice but crappy songs", just like the already mentioned Whitney, Joss Stone, John Legend and thousands of others before her and thousands of others after her. I recognize the talent but dislike the outcome.

She writes great songs, has a good voice and more importantly is very down-to-earth.
People can identify with her..

I'm gonna have to ride both sides of this fence , because I agree that she can sing like a mofo , and that she got where she is now based on her abilities , but there is nothing about her music that really grabs me . Maybe if she hooked up with a better band , that would accentuate her soulfulness , then I would appreciate her more. But , I guess she wouldn't be where she is now if she went any other direction . But , in the same breath, I too am tired of hearing about Adele , and not hearing enough about the grips of other artists who choose to not sell their soul ( in both senses of the word ) to the major labels .
