I've been copying my UBB vinyl (all vols, from vol 1 to the semi-official vol 26) over to MP3 so I can
a) listen to it in the car, and
b) use it for DJing with Serato (and not ruin it any more than it's already ruined with constant backspinning)

In doing so, I'm listening to all the tracks all the way through, for what is the first time ever for me. I'm discovering a few that slipped past me first time round cos I was focusing on the breaks.... one in particular is "I Like Funky Music" by Uncle Louie, from vol 6. That break is nice, but the track is really dope.

What are your favourite tracks on the UBB compilations?

I haven't bought any UBB rekkids, but are VERY familiar with the different volumes - by sight....spinning them, while over other folks cribs, etc. I do have most of the various songs that can be found on the various volumes, on random things, (i.e., mp3, cassette tapes, 45's, LP's, etc.). I've actually gottenmost of them, now, in mp3 format so I can have them in my iPod/iphone and listen to them conveniently.

LOL - it's funny, Jimmy G...one of my best friends in NYC, is a breakbeat head...only listens to th breaks...never listens to the songs all the way through. I've been trying to get him to listen to them, for the past number of years, but not sure if he's taken that leap of faith...LOL.


I've always listened to the songs in it's entirety - i guess i just like it that way.

It always good to listen to the breaks all the way through,for the main reason that there are many
old school breakbeats that have two breaks or get down grooves on them instead of one.
