Rchecka, I hope you like that record. Let me know what you think.

I thought it was pretty cool, not bad, but that's not my favorite kind of Reggae. I'm not complaining the price was right and that's a classic, so I got a good deal on a subgenre I don't have much of.

What is your favorite type of reggae/JA music? Recently I've been branching out into deejay records, digi stuff, etc. but I'll admit I always come back to the 70s roots stuff, and earlier styles like ska/rocksteady/etc.

Was listening to Justin Hinds' first two albums in the car today...now those are classics I didn't know about until fairly recently...

It's hard to say what sub genres are my favorite but I have a tendency to grab the roots reggae and dub\version specific stuff first. That being said I love the lovers rock, rocksteady, dancehall, deejays, etc, as well. It's endless and I can only scrape the surface.

But here is a handful of some of my and a few other members' selections...

Not trying to resurrect dead horses...beating dead horse

but here's 2 of my dub and roots reggae mixes from back in the day.

Both those links are a bit out of date but I genuinely love that kind of reggae.

Reggae is always one of those vast genres I can't get enough of no matter how hard I try to keep up. Shit's daunting. Yah mon

^^ nice to see some more punk rock on here !! And you can't lose with Barrington Levy . Don't know Swervedriver .

Punk and related types of music were basically the first music I really went nuts over as a young teenager. Still listen to a lot of it and like discovering older groups that are "new to me".

Swervedriver were a UK band from the 90s shoegazer era, but they had a harder rocking edge to them, possibly influenced by groups like the Stooges and MC5. They recently got back together and put out this new album, which I think is really good. I was also able to see them a few years back (missed their recent tour) and they were great.
