He dropped a few joints before ths one but they were considered spoken word.Which were all precursors to Rap music
(that's the tie in) but this album was traditional with funk of course.Bringing this one to your attention for dopability level.Which in turn on this one I believe is high.I bought it a long time ago specifically for one famous breakbeat that you may or may not be familiar with (Come on write me)But most of the album is an experience to say the least.Worth a look.

The break is at 2:11...try not to break any furniture.haha

/\/\ nice BM31 , gonna have to hunt that one down . Did you ever listen to Quasimoto - The Unseen album ? There are quite a few Melvin Van Peebles samples on that album ( mostly vocal samples , but still dope ).

Yes,Jay..it's funny you mentioned that.I'm very familiar with the album.I played it alot because of the samples.
Can't remember if it was 99' or 00.But alot of the samples came from artist that I have breakbeats from.Madlib was trippin a little bit,but it was a dope album.He used some Galt Macdermott,Eugene McDaniels,David Axelrod,Ronnie Laws,Ahmad Jamal,amongst the Melvin.When your looking for the Melvin,track down some Annette Peacock also.The I'm the one album is classic in the lore realm,but She's been sampled alot also.They are now re-issuing alot of her stuff on CD.

Good thread, BM, Sweet Sweetback's Baaaaadddddaaaaasssss Song is the only thing I got from Melvin and I love that record.

I never know how many A's D's and S's to put in that word when I spell it LOL.
