About 10 months of daily work finally came to an end last night! I am relieved that I can finally move on to other projects now because this one was a whopper. I built everything out of wood, from the built in shelves, to the turntable console, to the oak support structures after I knocked down that wall. I actually had to knock down a chimney to make room for this expansion earlier this summer so it was truly a labor of love.

Here is the before picture...

Before Pic CD Wall (This CD rack furthest from view is now gone(far left))

Here are the "during" pics (Wall's gone, the shelves not in yet...)

During #2 (Building of the beer chiller table top and the back CD wall built-ins)

AND....

...without further adieu.... (drum roll)

Here's a few pics and a short Youtube Video walk-through of the studio.

The outside of the studio door... (I made that "Learn more" pop up balloon just for this pic since it was hard to read)

Here's

the walk-through Youtube video

^Watch this for the big picture.

The Duke guards my front door.

Forward view from the turntables...

Here's the expanded area (built-in shelves on all walls, built-in table top for beer chiller, oak QRD Diffusor above the fridge built from scratch (I'll put plans online later), my Klingon knife is above the vent in case someone tries to steal my wax and they somehow got past the Duke, my old school HH is on the right, my modern day HH is on the left)

Solid Oak Support Beam (Sanded, stained and glazed with polyurethane)

Center Support Beam (My son's magic cookie at the top, then Boards of Canada flyer, then Digable Planets promo)

Beer Barrel Chair

My Picture Jazz 7" records displayed

Left CD built in shelves (See before pic for comparison)

My Beer holder, (plans for beerholder here) 10" spot and my funk\soul\jazz blues 45s, my electronic music section and rock sections.

QRD Diffusor above the beer chiller (By the way this diffuser really works well, functional and it looks sharp!)

Back wall (my Megadeth comics, Western\Bad-ass themed picture 7" records, Visionaries Box Set Displayed, Sound Foam)

Wider View From Back Wall

My Old School, Hip Hop 7"s, Rock 7"s, Music Related DVDs, Electro...

My exhaust fan Notice the Duke's saying "A Man's Gotta Do What A Man's Gotta Do" and an Edison Cylinder Record)

My DWG Old School 12" poster, art print, 7" Hip Hop pic discs displayed, built in TIX dot-clock so you have to think to know what time it is in the lower left. (Sometimes I don't wanna know what time it is!)

Record Label Coasters, small 7" record desk shelf, Right Turntable

Behind the Decks, Music Workstation

Record cleaners and vinyl care products storage cubby above beer holder...

Alesis Studio Monitors on wooden floor stand next to their speaker stands (for producing or mixing I prop these monitors on the stands for a truer sound controlled by a speaker switch under the console using my Alesis amp)

Hidden keyboard and mouse drawer pulled out for my music workstation When I'm listening or mixing the hinged drawer is under the console, but when I need to record or produce or just get online it hinges outward and down and latches in place. I use primarily Sony Acid and Sound Forge software for music production. The soundcard on my workstation output goes in the third channel on my mixer and the booth output on the mixer goes into my soundcard input for ease of recording and digital monitoring.

My cherished Kool Herc autograph display for good luck and good Hip Hop karma above the Hip Hop picture cover 7"s

Last pic of the new cove for the man cave...

DONE!

You can find the plans for these DIY Built In Record Shelves HERE on our blog.

If you check back later, I will update this post after I do another set of DIY plans on the blog.

Right about now, this place is calling my name so I'm headed there now! DJ

That is fucking awesome. Great job on the studio !!! Seeing all those CDs make me a little sad .. Had to sell all of mine when we moved back to TN . Times were hard .. Enough feeling sorry for myself . I am very impressed with the work. Good stuff homie.

Looks great man!
I know how much time you put into it.

I have to stop by and check it out in person and have a beer from that awesome fridge.

Nice work!
