Man some REALLY great stuff on there JB. Thumbs up to all that.

I LOVE DeRobert and the Half Truths. I have that 7" EP, I think you got me into them a while back. I'm gonna have revisit that for sure. GED Soul is the heart of Nashville Soul and one great indie label IMO.

Big ups to the Mickey and the Soul Gen as well, I have an original 45 of theirs and it's uber funky.

Picked up 2 joints a few days ago .

Omega One - Momento / Off The Horizon ( Blockhead Remix ) / Still Cambodia ( feat. Lodeck & Jak Progresso ) 12" . Pretty solid laid back , downtempo Hip hop beats . This one get my thumbs up with the exception of the vocal track . Wasn't really feeling the MCs .

Jorge Ben - Forca Bruta lp . Such a great album . Very soulful mellow Brazilian music . Nice chill out music .

My latest scores ...

Change The Beat.. The Celluloid Records Story 1979 - 1987 2lp & 2cd . I wasn't really sure what to expect with this one . Apparently Celluloid was a very open genre label . There are so many different styles on this record , that you definitely can't predict what's coming up next . There is everything from rock to electro to hip hop , and some I really couldn't classify . I think any old school head would appreciate this one . It takes me back ( for some reason ) to the scene in BeatStreet when they are auditioning the groups in the night club .
The Cold Crush Brothers - Punk Rock Rap ( punk rock mix / punk rap mix / instrumental / party mix ) 12" . Everybody here should know Cold Crush , and is probably familiar with this track . It's not the best example of lyricism for the time , but a great song nonetheless . Very fun to listen to .. a great party track . It was well worth the $4.00 I paid for it.
Portishead - Dummy lp . Lately I have said to hell with holding out on an original copy of quite a few records . This being one of them . This is the pinnacle of trip hop for me . Such a dope album . This album still to this day manages to find its way into my playlist almost every week . I can listen to it from front to back and never get tired of it.
Blendcrafters (DJ Nu-Mark & Pomo ) - Melody Remix feat MF Doom ( clean , dirty , acapella , instrumental ) / Eddie Harris' Bold And Black Remix feat. Carol Kaye & Derf Reklaw 12" . This is such a dope 12 !! Melody was a great track before they put MFDoom over it . It was an excellent idea !!! Needs to go in that Doom collection you have Rchecka ... The Eddie Harris joint is ridiculously funky !! $3.00 was a great buy for this one .
Dj Format - Spaceship Earth feat. Edan ( vocal / instrumental ) / Terror feat Mr. Lif ( vocal / instrumental ) 10" . I have been Sleeping on Format !!! This is a dope 10 !! The drums are so heavy on here . I am sold on DJ Format . Edam and Mr. Lif both kill it on here too .

You're right it's a very diverse label. I got a lot of old Celluloid records including an old compilation they dropped. I can't remember the name of it but it had all the classic electro stuff from the label by DST.

Hella digging my mane. Dummy is another staple. Sounds great on wax, well worth seeking that out even if you had it on CD.

Eye always dug that record, the mixes each had a unique feel but, so many heads Eye knew hated that record when it came out. Eye guess Eye understand, as it was kind of a departure from that street level ish but, for me, it was about the whyle out factor....it was supposed to be on some next. There was some humor and silly sh*t goin on for sure but, the CC4 still had that commanding vocal presence.....Eye thought they pulled it off well....although the song title may have been a misnomer as it was really more of a New Wave feel than Punk Rock but, the two were often lumped together. If for no other reason, it's a classic for the mere fact that it's the source of the infamous, "Oh My God" heard in Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew's "The Show".
