My latest scores .
Got these from Metrowax through a recommendation by Rchecka ( good lookin homie ) . This was my first experience with them , and I am very happy with them ..

Gang Starr - Flip The Script / Gotta Get Over test pressing 12". . This is dope f** king 12. !!! I was a little apprehensive to cop this because it was graded as G ( good ) , which in most instances means that it's gonna sound terrible . But , for the price they were asking , I had to jump on it . It was well worth the cop !! It sounds great !! Two dope tracks on here along with remixes and the instrumental for Gotta Get Over .

De La Soul - Stakes Is High promo lp . Another great find at a great price !! I wasn't quite sure how I was gonna like this , because it is an edited promo . But considering the fact that De La didn't cuss very much anyway , it doesn't affect the quality of the album . I'm such a big De La fan , that this lp makes a great addition to my collection !!

Ice Cube - Amerikkka's Most Wanted / Once Upon A Time In The Projects promo 12" .. Again , another edited promo . This one , like the UGK joint that Rchecka talked about a while back , was slightly rewritten instead of just cutting out the cusses or covering them with an annoying sound . It worked out very well in this case . The lyrics still managed to hold their integrity , and didn't come off too corny , like some other edits I've heard ( especially some of the Eazy - E rewritten radio edits ). So , although it's not the exact lyrics , this is still a great 12 !!!

No I.D. - Sky's The Limit / Jump On It 12" . I was very familiar with No I.D. , mostly as a producer , but never really gave his albums much attention . I think I'm gonna have to cop it now . Both of the tracks on here , and their instrumentals , are dope !!! Another great addition ..

Common Ground / Elevator Music split 12" .. This 12 , as a whole , is okay . The lyricism is fair a best . But I was really feelin the beats throughout . One of the tracks on the Elevator Music side has an acapella , which lyrically is just so-so , but the cat that rhymes on it ( Lacks ) has a very animated delivery and voice that kinda stands out and would sound good to cut ( scratch ) with . The whole thing is definitely on some backpacker shit , and in my opinion very mediocre .

Sound In Color MU.SIC label sampler 12" . Artists on this one include MainFrame & Platonic , Exile , and GB . Side one has the MF & P track which is remixed by Daz-I-Kue , and a bonus beat remixed by the same cat . I'm not familiar with these artists , and wasn't really feelin the tracks . A lot more electronic than I expected . I like a good deal of electronic stuff too , but wasn't really feelin this one . On the flipside are the Exile track and two tracks from GB . All three tracks on this side are more downtempo electronic , but with a more hip hop feel . I don't think side one will get much play , but side 2 is pretty good.
That is all from Metrowax , but I picked up a few more joints in my travels.

Quasimoto - Yessir Whatever lp plus bonus 45 and dl card . So far , after just one listen , I really like this one , but still prefer The Unseen . Not sure yet if I prefer this over The Further Adventures..... Still a solid album in my opinion . The 45 that comes with it is pretty dope too . One side is a track called Hittin Hooks . It is a new take on Biz Markie's Pickin Boogers , but it's about hittin hookers . It's a pretty dope spin on the track . The flip is a remix of Microphone Mathematics . It's good , but I prefer the original .

Jurassic 5 - J5 Deluxe Re-issue Bonus Tracks 2lp .all remixes and rarities , but dope nonetheless . All done in the J5 signature style . Definitely a nice addition if you like J5 .

Cannonball Adderly - Somethin' Else lp . I'm really feelin this one too . CA And Miles Davis are definitely the standouts for me on this album. But I don't mean that to take away from the rest of the amazing artists that played on here . Nice Blue Note repress .

Lightnin' Hopkins - Lightnin' Strikes lp . Another great repress !!! I'm just starting to collect Lightnin' Hopkins stuff , but this was a nice cop . I picked it up for $10.99 at Books-a-Million ( got that Cannonball Adderly joint there for $9.99 ) .

Thanks for checking us out man.. on the records you bought.. that Gang Starr record was a great deal. I graded it GOOD but it could have easily been VG or better to most people. I tend to grade everything conservatively and usually even a G record from us will be pretty decent and playable.. also wanted to say that often clean edits / radio versions are SLEPT ON. People downgrade them because it's not explicit, but sometimes the lyrics are rapped differently, and the beats are sometimes spiked as well.. there are some real sleepers that are clean versions. One of them is UGK - Ridin' Clean. Anyways enjoy the records and hope to see you again sometime!

I know you guys didn't stop buying records!

Unfortunately I'm stuck in South Carolina in a hotel on business so I don't have my recent picks nearby (I wish!). In any case, will have to post up some highlights when I'm back in Philly.

I did pick up some of Chopped Herrings recent drops, particularly the Philly-friendly stuff! I'm listening...
