Robert Smith looked like an overweight Avon Cosmetics rep.

LOL I can visualize that. Surprised they sucked though, damn.

And I can't believe this...

TV ON THE RADIO... Bland as fuck..both the band and the singer.

Those dudes are talented as hell, I've seen em live and they rocked! Love that band.

Sublime was good? ((nocomment)) Really??

I never rated those guys. I always thought they came in on the ass end of the "Alternative" scene in a really obnoxious way.

Regardless, I love your blunt reviews, keep em coming. thumbs up

I woulda thought you would like Sublime . I always liked their music . I thought it was a great mix of punk , ska , reggae , and hip hop . I have only heard on track with Rome and it sounded okay . I prefer them with the original singer ( f**k heroine !!! ).
I laughed my ass off at the Robert Smith comment ..

No I pretty much hate them. I clump them together with a lot of 90s bands that I think are highly overrated pop fluff music like Rancid.

90s bands that are popularized garbage....

Garbage
Sublime
No Doubt
Rancid (Bands Rancid Hell Spawn and Rancid Vat are 1000x better and yet no one knows them.)
Live
Toadies
Third Eye Blind
Silver Chair
Bush
Oasis

Oasis is the absolute worst of that bunch because that fucking pretentious lead singer's whinny voice grinds into my soul. It certainly doesn't help that all these bands are preapproved by the lowest common denominator Reddit dumb fucks who are figuring out what a record is.

My bad... I got a little ranty there...

thread hijacked

I digress, this ain't my thread, carry on Beatlover.

Bottlerock Napa 2014

DAY TWO

Arrived at day two at around 2pm. It was early in the day and there was already the same amount of people as Friday night(and room for more). Wandered around looking at stuff, bought some Krave Jerky(The Bomb!) and loaded myself up with some Margeruita's to start the day. Was going to be tough as there were several bands I wanted to see playing at the same time that evening(Weezer 6pm/De La 615pm/Blues Traveller 630pm)

MATT AND KIM
Had no idea who they were when they came out. Just a keyboard guy and female drummer. They brought tons of energy running around the stage, dancing all over the place, interpolating other tunes like Next Episode and getting the crowd going. They were really good fun, Kim hit the shit out of the drums and they made everyone take notice. Finally, they played a song I recognized in "Daylight". Enjoyed their set and would watch them live again.

THIRD EYE BLIND
I was interested to see how these guys would be live..I liked some of their stuff. Disappointing. There wasn't anything good about them at all. Gave up on them four tunes in..a lot of others did too.

SMASH MOUTH
Not a group I cared about seeing. There was shade and somewhere to sit while I demolished my Turkey Leg. They were stereotypical live. Played all the songs you'd expect. Lead singer had some kind of problem with Third Eye Blind(who were playing at the same time) and told the crowd "Third Eye Blind can suck my fucking dick" more than once. They were average.

WEEZER
Walked back to the main stage for Weezer..place was getting packed out!! First song we lost the sound midway through. The band were tight but I wasn't impressed with the lead singer. There was nothing in the first three songs that made me want to hear anymore(and gladly the lady I was with) and I was itching to go see De La.

DE LA SOUL
As we got closer to where they were playing, I could hear they had started and ran to get there. They had way more people watching than Smash Mouth. They were doing "Ooh" which I was hoping to see live. They sounded really clear and on point. I was disappointed when I looked back to see someone else was in Mase's spot..they told the crowd that he stayed back in NY as his daughter was graduating. With such a huge back catalogue there was always going to be tunes missing but I was satisfied with the tunes I got to see them perform. The Bizness, All Good, Potholes, oodles etc. They gave a shout out to Phife/LL/Z-Trip who were standing backstage while they performed(LL was playing next day) nad talked about Run DMC's influence on them. I got all excited thinking they were going to bring them onstage to perform alongside but it never happened. It was disappointing to see a lot of people leave once they did Me,Myself and I. They brought it live, played on crowd participation well and had their show well arranged. My only complaint was that they stopped too many tunes to talk or get the crowd going. I just wanted to hear some tunes without interruption you know? Always wanted to see them live, but I feel like I saw two thirds of them live. I still need to see them with Maseo.

BLUES TRAVELLER
Couldn't tell you much about them..at that point I was buzzing nicely sitting on a blanket, people watching and listening. They just kept going off into long instrumentals which were on point for where I was at!! I had to ask for another ten minutes to get my head together before I had the energy to get up and walk to go see Outkast. Luckily they came on a bit late..

OUTKAST
People talked about being The Cure being the big act of the weekend, there was way, way more people there to see Outkast. Place was a sea of people as far as you could see. On stage was some big square object covered by a huge sheet. Within five minutes of finding our spot, the lights came on and the sheet was slowly lifted up. Underneath was a huge clear cube with Andre and Big Boi standing inside with a table and chairs.
See for yourselves on this clip..great entrance.

They were better than I expected to be honest. They gave props to Oakland where their debut really blew up and performed all the tunes I wanted to hear. The band were on point and the backing singers too. The screen behind them was great aswell with some cool images in the background as they performed. They also brought out Mr one-song-legend himself SLEEPY BROWN for the Way You Move and So Fresh, So Clean!! Only slight disappointment was them finishing the set with Da Whole World(only tune of theirs I really don't like). They hadn't performed in California since 2001 or together since 2007 so this was a excellent return for them.

HEART
They were still playing on the other stage while the crowds dispersed so we hung out to watch them to avoid the queues. Their band was really tight as they played some Zeppellin..unfortunately the local council had a curfew of 10pm and right on cue the sound was cut off the main speakers. They played out the last song and left..decent from what I saw.
