Up to you. I kinda think PIF is the safest way to go. Can't have too many issues if you are getting a record for free? double thumbs up I'm not interested in sales at all and don't have the time to do proper trading ATM.

The biggest issue with PIF will be getting folks to participate. Even on high-traffic boards there are times when there are sometimes lulls.

Whatever you decide to do let me know.

I would love to hear the opinions from other members on this before we decide. This is a co-op after all...

I'd like to do a\some new sub(s).

Can the rest of you chime in on this?

1. Member Sales Sub: If we are going to do a member sales related sub I don't want record sellers to spam the joint... I want to support record sellers, don't get me wrong but only if they are contributing members and it can't be a free for all for all sellers who don't otherwise contribute.

2. PIF sub: I really like the PIF idea too but how do we make sure it is paid forward to the giftee? or is that not the point? I always think of karma as a real thing, what goes around definitely comes back to you but what if it doesn't?

3. Trade Sub: Regarding trading, I've been wanting to do a straight up record for record trade forum for a while. 7 for 7, 12 for 12, LP for LP, member to member CONTUS and/or any country to that country, after all we have an open to all international membership.

Do all 3 ideas belong on one sub or 3 separate?

Lots of questions, let's do this democratic like, sound off everyone plz. We don't have to rush this especially if we get it right.

What does everyone else think? Ideas?

Hi Rchecka,

Other people may have different opinions on this, but I never expect anything in return personally. What I do expect is that if someone takes a PIF, they pay it forward by putting a record in the PIF pot for *someone* to take. Most PIF threads I've seen work on the honor system. On some boards, someone that doesn't check in all time may forget it's time for them to put something back in the pot...they don't need to offer up a record immediately after they receive but should within a couple weeks or a month. If any gets forgetful, I think a simple PM reminder could help in that case.

I like the idea of the PIF thread the best . Rcheck , you know I'm always down for a trade , and don't mind the idea of a sale thread , but they will have to be regulated . I think you would have to be very specific about everything you post . I would hate to see someone feel like they they didn't get the full description whether it just album details or condition or whatever . At least with the PIF thread , it's free . No expectations other than to offer up something for someone else to enjoy . To sum up , I'm open to all 3 ideas , but truly feel like some ground rules need to be set for sales and trades , and everyone needs to make sure that they keep open , honest communication about sales or trades so we don't have any issues.

I would suggest one sub forum for all with sticky topic for PIF.
How about if nobody wants to take a PIF record, the person with it puts it on ebay and the money goes to a charity of peoples choice at the end of the year?
