I dig this album, but don't listen to it all that often. I thought the follow up was kind of weak/bland, and didn't like the stuff I heard from their latest album at all. Their early indie-label recordings didn't do much for me either. This one and "Return to Cookie Mountain" are both good though.

I have an extra download card for the Estranged - s/t (i.e. 3rd) LP I posted awhile back. If anyone wants it, shoot me a PM. The album is a retro post-punk kind of thing that sounds a bit like the Wipers more downcast stuff. I think it's a great album and better than any of their earlier stuff.

Gus Gus - Polydistortion LP (4AD) 1997



^So this downtempo-IDM album from way back in 1997 was 10 years ahead of everyone else when this dropped. While most electronic music from the late 90s sounds archaic this group's essential album still sounds surprisingly advanced 28 years later.

I never thought I'd find this priced nice, this is in high demand, but there it was, the OG in great shape and at only 20 bones. I passed over a lot of their records over the years, wondering why they flew out the door, then I heard this album and everything clicked.

Really interesting stuff, give it a listen if you haven't already, here's one song...
