All the records I've purchased new are pristine. Except the Bowie albums. They're scratched up, dust deep in the grooves - I lived with them playing constantly when I was in my teens. I think for the first year or two that I was buying records, the only artist in my collection was Bowie. I'm utterly gutted to see him go, but what a fucking exit. Thanks for the music, David!

^Good words, well put whyaduck. I'm also still shook on this loss. Honestly I couldn't find it in me to play his music yesterday like everyone else was.

I don't have anywhere near as many of his records as I should have. I planned on buying them all gradually, like everything else. Of course, now his records will be overpriced even more and harder to find in good shape from the inevitable famous when your dead phenom. He was famous when he was alive so it'll be twice as true for his works. Not that they were ever easy to find cheap or easy or in good shape before.

^The gougers really disgust me, and I refuse to pay those prices so I will probably hold off until well after the frenzy subsides. If I get a strong urge to fill out my Bowie collection I'll probably go for CDs or Hi-Rez downloads until the vinyl gets reissued and becomes reasonably priced and ubiquitous. There is no reason it shouldn't eventually head in that direction anyway, IMHO.
