Fantastic write up my man! Thanks for adding on. QuoteGordon Rekcikssa I tend to fit in the loosest definition of crate digging. I know it's kind of heresy to say this on a forum dedicated to record collecting, but the format isn't that important to me. I still dig records, and I certainly still buy every album I can on them, but I never gave up on my CDs or tapes, either.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^Great review Gordon, I'm not very versed in Alice Cooper albums, I have one that I like a lot. so that kind of info is gold to me.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Last week... DJ Kid Grebo – Paul C. Lives Vol. 1 Mixtape 2016 ^Avoid this mix. I was excited to buy this based on the produced by Paul C theme and the strength of the songs listed. Last week it arrived after purchasing from Tape Head City and I was pumped to bump it. Soon after opening and listening I started to suspect it was the product of a bootlegger who had nothing to do wby rchecka - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
Benji B - David Axelrod Samples Mix MIXCLOUD LINK In light of the incomperable David Axelrod's passing, sharing this mix now seems fitting. Here's a great mix from a fantastic world class DJ, Benji B. This is just a tiny snapshot of the impact that Axelrod had on Hip Hop.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^That was nice, good for work music.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
First off, welcome aboard. I just peeped your soundcloud disco mix "In My Spaceship" and it sounds dope. Secondly, I don't know how many electronics experts are in here but I'm guessing there aren't many if any. Seems like a complex issue that you've done a great deal of research for and you're probably more of an expert on that situation than anyone hereby rchecka - Turntable Help and Technical Questions
Hoping others will add on here so it's not the Joe Schmoe show... Today's pick... Dieselboy - The Destroyer 2 (Extinction Event) SOUNDCLOUD LINK ^You know I like it when I play it in my studio rather than playing my records. Dieselboy, the US's best drum & bass DJ (by far) dropped an incredible sequel to his powerhouse of a mix the Destroyer. This one will giveby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^Good info about Pullen. Legendary DJ who's been around years and he's not slowing down any time soon. Today's pick... DJ Andy Smith & DJ Format - Hip Hop On Wax @ Maud, Walthamstow - 14.1.17 QuoteDJ Andy Smith DJ Format guesting at my first 'Hip Hop On Wax' night at The Maud club (inside The Mirth) in Walthamstow. Stacey Pullen fabric x Detroit Love Promo Mix SOUNDCLOUD LINK Nice minimal mix here from the legendary Stacy Pullen. It starts off simple and unassuming, with heaps of gradual subtle builds.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
We now live in a world where there are billions of hours of music available for free streaming and or downloading from DJs and crate diggers who make mixtapes or DJ mixes from all over the planet. There's more music than we could listen to in a thousand lifetimes. For that reason it seems like you can't even give music away any more, people have too many choices and their listening tiby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop

I'm always surprised when people don't call Fugazi punk. It may ride a grey line of other genres as well but punk is the basis. If pop punk is considered punk, Fugazi is certainly many times harder and more punk than much of that stuff.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
I've been on a modern funk 45 buying kick lately, here's a few of the more notable ones... I love classic funk 45s as well but I make a solid effort to remain fairly current with newer funk and soul acts that grace the 45. Dip — Won't Be Coming Back / Chanterelle 7" (Colemine) 2016 ^Nice mod instrumental soul, very feel good. Humble and good, nothing over the top.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Dope. Thanks for sharing this man! Nice juggling! I will be peeping this in prep for the big game.by rchecka - Member Submissions
^Yeah, that would be long overdue.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
^Speaking of that classic... Last night... Main Source - Breaks the Atom 2LP (Actual Records) Unofficial ^I got this back around 2003 when it first dropped. The cover says 1990 but it's unofficial so it could say 1880 and it wouldn't be a surprise. This includes that album and a few b-sides, remixes, alt versions, etc. Not the best sound quality so if you are picky aboutby rchecka - Crate Digging: Hip Hop
QuoteGordon Rekcikssa So much good stuff here that reminds me of sitting around with my father listening to his records with him. He was one of those dudes that really did think there were two kinds of music...Country and Western. No sarcasm intended, either. They were two distinct styles to him, and you captured them both. Thanks so much for posting this. Such cool words man, thanks so muchby rchecka - Member Submissions
JB, you rock man. Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate your feedback. I just want people who "hate country" to appreciate the real good old shit that does not suck. So hearing you say that really puts a smile on my face. Mad respect.by rchecka - Member Submissions
^Interesting. I didn't know there were 3 versions of that song. There's also this... Ghetto Boys – Gangsters Of Love in case you feel like spending 400 bucks. But I don't know what version is on that.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Hip Hop

RN... Fripp & Eno - No Pussyfooting LP (Editions EG) 1979 ^I'd call this record a meeting of the minds. King Crimson's Robert Fripp meets the king of ambient music Brian Eno and just the right amount of each artist's sound is captured and married perfectly. For those starting from scratch on Brian Eno albums looking to learn more about his Ambient works this is aby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Updated 6/6/2022 (Soundcloud link added) I just found the original recording tape of my all time best reggae mixtape I made years ago. Some friends and family have asked me to post it here since their old CD-Rs I made have faded. NOTE: The mix starts off a bit scratchy sounding because of the age of the old records I used but that's only in the beginning. This is really special musby rchecka - Member Submissions
I'm not a record club subscription guy at all either. That said this would definitely be an exception to that basic rule of thumb I have. I have probably 30 or so Numero records and ALL of them are not only high quality pressings but all of them are also "othewise unavailable" rarity type records. This label is one of my favorite Chicago labels of all time. I watched a DVDby rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
Your wife is one cool wife man. Thanks for posting this! I love Numero records so much, I wish I got that gift. I'm interested in quite a few of those, they are for sale outside this club service right?by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
^Nice one. I will never be able to keep up with Eno. He's still dropping fire.by rchecka - Crate Digging: Non Hip Hop
QuotejaybrownI feel like if I put my free hand on the base of the tonarm when using the brush , it acts as a ground ^It could in a way, your tone arm is grounded via ground wire. But no exaggeration man, those dust brushes don't work as good as Gruv Glide. That solution and those black pads with their tiny little fabric fingers get into the grooves deep.
