Since Wiscompton dropped the hint here, Eye figured I'd get this started off right....
....if we're going to do a Golden Age video thread, then it's only right we start it with the show that truly is ground zero for Golden Age Hip-Hop videos....
...the legendary pioneering TV show called VIDEO MUSIC BOX....
Not only was this the place to see all your favorite videos, esp

Feel your pain, JB....had a water heater go on me and had a few inches in my basement a couple of years ago....not pretty Lessoned learned tho......get yourself a decent wet-vac (or shop-vac as they called in some circles). Makes the water removal a much quicker and easier process. You never know when you'll need it but, trust and believe you'll be thankful if you do. It was the 2nd tim

Without being at home to count right now, Eye'd say Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Smith and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross (or Bavan when Annie Ross bounced) in that order.

QuoteGMMMary Jane Girls - All night long X Nice & Smooth - More and more hits
With the MJ Girls classic, gotta put a few other pairings ahead of the Nice & Smooth one.....
...for me, it would be Big Daddy Kane's Smooth Operator but, Eye would also put LL's Around The Way Girl and Redman's Tonight's Da Night ahead of that as well.

JayB...Good call on Teddy and Ahmad....he was kind of one hit wonder but there's no denying the impact of that song. The Brand Nubes link Eye can see but the original is dead....gonna assume it was Edie Brickell tho...nice pairing but Eye would think a stronger pairing involving the Nubians would be Roy Ayers - Everybody Loves The Sunshine x Wake Up

Thought about this on the drive in this morning...
...what are some of the greatest samplee/sampler combos?....in other words pairings where both songs represent the highest standards of the respective artists' catalogue or the impact of both songs were overwhelmingly significant.
In this particular instance, Eye was thinking of James Brown as the starting point...but really, the conc

Did BDK spit anything form this new album that ice been hearing about for the past year and some change? I've heard like two joints....sounds got. I understand he's been performing with a live band..?
No on both counts, P. Truth be told, probably wouldn't have fit in this show....it was definetely about the classics for the whole show. Kane has had some o

My original post prompted a relisten to this classic BDP album and in light of current events, this is an even more appropriate song.

ahhhh...1984 - good year....yeah....Graffiti Rock.
Michael Holman - was kind of a square (IMO)...but hey - I have to admit that he put his (tiny) stamp on the game, with that short-lived, one episode TV show. I've had the DVD of the TV show, for quite some time, but woud be curious to see the "behind the scenes" documentary.

Gonna make it brief and to the point....good show, had a blast, free show (and worth every penty), rained all damn night right up until final half of closing act, people hung in there anyway!
Chubb Rock opened....his DJ ran through some classics (Hip Hop and non Hip Hop)...he ripped through Treat Em Right and surprisingly got much love with Just The Two Of Us....brought out a ton of guests...J

My quick 2 cents...
As for personal contributions....life spanks my a$$ on the regular, time is not easy to come by....usually, when Eye do have it, I'll drop what Eye can. Honestly, there are times when Eye wanna drop more but, not in a position 2 do so and later it drops off the radar.....
...which brings me to the next thing....Eye can't speak for the rest of the vets but, some

The group dynamic (vocally speaking) - Eye miss 3, 4, 5 cats with complex vocal routines, harmonizing, trading off lines, etc.... Beasties, LONS, J5 and very few others tried to keep it alive but, that was an art form within the art of emceeing. Clans, crews, cliques, posses and the like did nothing to build on that technique...by then, there was too much emphasis on the solo emcee.
