Here's another close call. the year I can't remember but I know that Kool and the Gangs Ladies night and Micheal Jacksons Rock with you were going strong. in fact the theme for the night was "ladies Night" the place Randys Place in Harlem. Now my mom told me you don't want to go up there but I insisted that I needed to see Grand Master Flash. Her last words. "A hard head makes a soft behind". so off we all went me and my crew. So Flash comes on and starts cutting Rock with you. then I hear a sound that sounds familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. The next things I get shoved. I turn around to talk shit but didn't get all the way around before I'm being moved forward. then it hit me the sound I heard sound like a stamped. A sound I knew from the animals running on my Grandparents farm. Anyway, we are getting pushed forward so my girl Denise grabs me and we attmept to take off. But in Randys there was only one way in and out and the disturbance was coming from the exit. so we run to the back of the club. the lights come on you see big gold chains, shoes, bloody people all over the place. my girlfriend ran straight I ducked behind a table. what happened next was some scary shit. The guys who were later identified to me as Cassanovas came back where we were guns in hand. some fool in front of the table I was under started talking shit to the guys with the guns. one ran up to our table pointed the gun and swayed it back and forth under the table. I thought damn my mother was so right about this. for reasons I dont' know her walked away and went further front along with many others with guns. I saw people running the way of the exit so I climbed from under the table and ran as fast as I could toward the exit. I saw my girlfriend that was seperated from me during all the madness and we ran our asses off. Now dont' get it twisted. I was eyeing the money and jewlrey on the floor but thought to myself a bullet is not worth trying to get something. LOL. well we made it to the exit as NYPD was coming up the stairs guns drawn. outside we ran for the train station and ran into the rest of the crew. that was the last time I went uptown for a while. I got home told my mother and she gave me that I told you so look. None of us were hurt but seeing that big ass gun up close and personal was not what I went there for. That was the second time I went to see flash and when he got on some shit jumped off and he didn't play. I thought to myself this mofo is setting this up. he gets paid not to play cause some fools messed up the party. I'll tell yall about the first time another day. That was at the armory in harlem. sugarhill convention "I believe it was called" I have to check my flyer. anyway that was another of many crazy nights I had. but looking back I wouldn't change a thing.

Yo Les Lady, that sounds like a crazy adventure. I have been in a few similar situations either people getting robbed or just some fool dumbin out with a gun, and that's never fun. But , just like your situation, I put myself right in the middle of it. I even got to the point where I was carrying a piece . I'm glad I never used it , and don't feel the need to have one now. Either way , great story and thanks again for sharing. You've been keeping me entertained.

Yeah that is a crazy story LES. I heard about how violent early shows used to get, I have a live show from a tape somewhere that P gave me and I remember it ending abruptly with the sound of faint gunshots heard on the mic, the mic being dropped and then the sound of kaos afterwards. I would have loved to see GMF in the early days but not if it was like that LOL.

Yes RChecka it was crazy back in the day. I mean while it was peaceful the jams were fun but something always seemed to jump off. sometimes you knew about it other times you didn't.until the next day.

LES Lady

what happened next pissed me off. He started cutting the record so much (showboating) that I couldn't spit one verse.

haha - I can imagine. I knew a few heads used to be mad at me for cuttin sh*'t up during their rhymes/verses...LMAO. the ones that were legit rhymers would keep on spittin' and not let it affect them...This ones on me.
