Went to a friends birthday party yesterday , and played kickball and volleyball all day . Today I'm really feeling my age , so I had to bump this joint .

Recently...

After many days and nights of hard digging and listening I finally got to the end of my borrow pile from the big dig...

This is the last stack I borrowed and now I just gotta save up for the large Joe-buy stack sitting down at Metrowax.
It was definitely nice to be able to "try before I buy" with these but it'll definitely be nice to get back to my normal listening routines instead of sampling each song on these records, needle-drop to drop...

KRS-One ‎– Illegal Business (2004 Remix) 12" (Grit Records) 2003

^Odd that the 2004 remix is on a 2003 release but I guess it coulda been a late release. Either way, HELLO, it's KRS-One so I had to at least check these one-off 12"s he dropped. This one has a dope B-Side and it's cheap, it goes in the buy pile for sure. thumbs up

Reks ‎– Easy / Easy [Remix] / Beantown To Cali 12" (Brick) 2001

^This guy is all over the place in terms of quality. Sometimes he's got some dope tracks... Other times, like this one, "ehh". I'm definitely passing on this 2001 Brick 12". worried

Dept. Of Rec. ‎– Raising Illatropolis EP (Arrakis Records) 2002

^Cool name, cool pic cover, at least cool enough to borrow out of sheer curiosity. Glad I didn't outright buy this backpacker crap. Pass! moody smiley

Black Maddness ‎– Wild Brooklyn Bandits 12" (Select Records) 1993

^Another NYC indie record, coulda been promising, but there is one decent track on this, and it's not that dope. Pass for sure. thumbs down

Capital Tax ‎– The Swoll Package LP (MCA Records) 1993

^Now we're getting somewhere. A strong release right here, pretty decent all the way through IMO. Nice and cheap conscious Hip Hop with the 1993 sampling style boom bappish beats. Not a ten but definitely a solid 7 and worth what I'll end up paying for it. Buy pile! thumbs up

CunninLynguists ‎– Will Rap For Food LP (Boiling Point Distribution) 2002

^DOPE. DOPE. I donno what else to say, this is the kind of independent Hip Hop that's my steez. It's really dope and I want it. Joe buy fo sho! It'll cost me about 50 bucks I figure and I think it's worth every penny. double thumbs up

^So how is that Newport Authority sequel in comparison to his first?
I loved the first one.

It's good....i think it's comparible, but need to give it a few more spins to give a better comparison. I can tell you, he brings our Rakim's voice (and flow) real good.

peace.
