@Jaybrown ..Sorry about your friend...It's just a reminder of how powerful music is..it can bond people for life. I'm sure everytime you play those records you'll remember him and his spirit most likely will be with you yawning smiley) I remember Thirstin Howl! He had a record with Eminem or Royce the 5'9 or something? He was a lo-life right from Brownsville right?

Right now I'm doing a crap load of writing and Illmatic is on heavy rotation...Did y'all check out the documentary? It's dope)
Pimpire Strikes Back (Roc Marci) is definitely on smash as well
Some fool I know was trying to force me to listen to Migos.... no thanks
Lil Kim's new joint Hardcore 2014 is in the file with Drake's album NWTS ..so that may not ever get listened to...

Hiphopchiq , glad to see you stoppin in a little more lately !! Thanks for the kind words . That was my fuckin man , and he will always be close to my heart . We watched each other's back through good and bad. We hustled together , lived somewhat lavish together , and even spent a year and a half homeless together . It's crazy where life takes you .. But , you are right , music will always tie us together and it helps a little with the loss .
As for that Nas flick , it made a 1 night appearance at a local theater here that plays indie joints , and I was working , so I missed it .. Glad to hear it's worth watching . I'm gonna have to catch it soon . Also , yes Thirstin Howl was a Brownsville lo-life . Always talking about boostin Polo and livin off his moms .
For me today , I been listening to Joey Badass in between deliveries at work today . I have been trying to decide if I like that kid or not . I like that his roots seem to be in golden era hip hop , but with a touch of what's going on in hip hop today . Plus he's always hooked up with ill producers . My only problem with him so far , and maybe it's because I'm getting old ,but I can't follow his lyrics sometimes . Maybe I'm loosing touch with the new slang or something , or maybe it's just that some of his word get unintelligible to me . Not sure , I just know I don't hate his music , which is rare for me with the new era hip hop cats ... I am getting old worried

This mornings ride into work..

Finally listened to Isaiah Rashad - Clivia . I was a little leery of this album . I am not a fan of TDE . Not to mention the fact that even though I rep Tennessee proudly , I haven't heard any hip hop outta here that I really respected since Utopia State in the late 90s . On top of that I heard a few comparisons between Isaiah Rashad and Kendrick Lamar who I'm really not feeling . I can see the resemblance in styles , but Isaiah speaks to me a little louder . Not a bad listen at all ...
