I've been bumping the shit out of Pinata.

Yeah, I know I'm late to the party. Anyone who knows me will back me up when I say I can be hard to please with Hip Hop nowadays.
Gibbs style is also NOT the kind of music I would have liked in the past but I am really liking Pinata. Very few tracks I don't like.


To Pimp A Butterfly was an interesting listen. I like what he is saying but I think it would come across better with different music. It seems like it is on the same wavelength as D'Angelo nowadays.

I felt the same way when I first heard Freddie Gibbs (and a few other artists like Big Krit and Currency that I really like now ). But with Gibbs , that dude has such a smooth flow that you can't help but like it . Madlib on production adds a whole different level too. I am a big fan of a lot of Freddie Gibbs' other stuff without Madlib . It's really easy to get caught up in his flow even if the beats aren't the type to usually pull me in .
