Uptownkid did a great definition of MC.

Eventually, P and I want to define all the elements, but in reality we both are very busy with our job obligations and family, and really, it would be a much better reference if we had more collaboration amongst Heads in the know (which is one reason this forum was founded)

Instead of starting with easy elements to define, I think it'd be an interesting debate if we started with a hard one like Underground.

How does anyone define underground? Ask any Hip Hop music fan which artists are good underground Hip Hop artists, and you will get a million different answers. So what makes an artist underground? If you were Websters Dictionary of Hip Hop, how would you define it technically so that it was easy to understand, broad enough to be universally accepted, yet specific enough to draw a line between the underground and the overground?

confused smiley

What's your definition?
Where is the line drawn or is there one?
Is this thing on? (tap, tap, tap, loud feedback)

Probably just somebody that hasn't or never will be a "star" or never make a lot of money doing it... but still does because they love it. Some ways to ensure you are forever underground is: have complex or profound lyrics, beats that aren't some kinda snap crap, be white or Asian, have an actual DJ, not be from the hood, be married.

LOL. That's some real talk right there.

So you wanna write the actual definition for the main site since you are the only one that offered insight on this? You obviously would get full credit for writing it. It'd have to be a little bit more in depth, but not too long either. If you want you can PM me if it's something you are are are not interested in.
